Hi Laurent, thank you for your message! To achieve 16TB of storage with PocketCloud, you will need two 8TB SSDs. One SSD is installed into the PocketCloud device itself, and the other goes into the Dock. We recommend using SSDs from the List of Tested Compatible SSDs, which you can find in the campaign page just after the section titled “Gear up for Outdoor Adventure.” If you have any further questions, feel free to reach out!

Hi Nick, yes, the device can be powered directly with the charger even without the batteries installed. For optimal performance, we recommend using the included 12V 2.5A power adapter or one with the same specifications.

Hi Aaron, thank you for your question. PocketCloud comes with a built-in firewall that effectively protects against common network attacks, offering a higher level of security compared to some consumer NAS devices like Synology or QNAP, which can be more exposed if not properly configured. At this time, PocketCloud does not support VPN, VPN tunnel functionality, or MAC filtering. However, we are actively collecting user feedback and will evaluate the demand for these features. Future updates may include them based on actual use cases and customer needs.

Hi Deniz, sorry for the late reply! Yes, you can definitely use different SSD brands for the SSL combo — it won’t affect performance or compatibility, so no worries there. Regarding the WD Black SN8100: we've tested the 1TB version and confirmed it works well. The 2TB version belongs to the same series and has identical specs, so it should be compatible as well. Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions!

Hi Aaron & Mike, apologies for the mix-up earlier — my previous message mentioned NeoBlade by mistake. Just to clarify: you're a backer of PocketCloud, and we appreciate your patience and support. The PledgeBox survey for PocketCloud will be sent out in mid to late July to collect your shipping details and shipping fee. Once it’s live, we’ll also post an update to keep everyone informed. Let us know if you have any other questions!

Hi Aaron, yes, PocketCloud can be accessed remotely via the internet — even when you're outside your local network. You don’t need to worry about security: all your data is stored locally on the PocketCloud device itself and is not uploaded to the internet. Let us know if you have any other questions!
