自己紹介
Staten Island Arts, 501c3 (formerly the Council on the Arts and Humanities for Staten Island, COAHSI) was founded in 1992 by working artists and arts administrators who regarded a local arts council as an essential tool in community cultural development.
The founding artists envisioned a specific kind of organization: “Our emphasis was on empowering artists and arts organizations to control their own futures by inventing new ways of working—through collaboration instead of competition…We see [Staten Island Arts] as a service organization that fosters independence and promotes mutual support, the sharing of information and resources, and the exchange of services.” [Quoted from original founding documents, 1992]
Staten Island Arts cultivates a sustainable and diverse cultural community for the people of Staten Island by:
• Making the arts accessible to every member of the community.
• Supporting and building recognition for artistic achievement.
• Providing artists, organizations, and arts educators the technical, financial and social resources to encourage cultural production.
