It is nearly a month since the funding end. Can we get a quick update on how thing is going ? :)

    2. Zortrax Creator on July 8, 2013

@Rob - minimal thickness in the shell is 0,4 mm. It still durable because of flexibility of Z-ABS (and generally, ABS material). You'll be able to change wall thickness in settings. Thanks for nice comment :)

    3. Rob van der Veer on July 5, 2013

In update 6 is mentioned that one can print an object using the shell (empty filling) method. What will be the thickness of the shell? Can one change that using settings?

FYI: I love the detail of the updates that you are giving!
I am happy that I was still in time for backing Zortrax, with just 6 minutes left before closing :)

    4. David Chase on June 26, 2013

      Yeah, and thanks.
I love the responsiveness of Zortrax to our questions and messages.

    5. Zortrax Creator on June 26, 2013

@David, I sent you a message about your being Backer :)
@Petrus, we'll still working on our website but don't worry, there will be easy option for backers to add filaments.

    6. David Chase on June 26, 2013

Hello, did you get my payment and messages?

Thank you for this KS Project.

    7. PETRUS YAP on June 26, 2013

is there any updates on when the website of will be officially running? we may need to order extra filament

Congratz with the funding, looking forward to see th finished product and looking forward to the upgrades comming long the way.

@Zotrax: "we'll try to make one set" - super nice, looking forward to see if you can pull it off, after all it's a quite complex model. It's only a cutout, so it's one cup of the headphone + some of the headband, it has a flat buttom so it's easier to place and has a size which fits a printer. Good luck

    9. PETRUS YAP on June 21, 2013

Congratz on the successful funding :D Cannot wait to try out my very own Zortrax M200

Anyone have any good material one could read on 3d printing?

    11. David Chase on June 21, 2013

Yeah, Its done and goal met and over achieved.

    12. PETRUS YAP on June 21, 2013

6 mins to go and I am already excited

    13. Zortrax Creator on June 21, 2013

@David Chase - we'll need a lot of time for many tests this upgrade. We'll keep you informed of the progress :) And as you write it will be available separately on our website.

BTW: We almost finish the WiFi module, after weekend we'll show more results about this nice upgrade. I'am also very happy because we finished very cool solution for platform, just waiting on new prototypes which will arrive after weekend :)

      Stay tuned!

    14. David Chase on June 20, 2013

Will the dual extruder be an option we can get at the end of the KS?
Or will we have to order that separately later from your website?
      Thanks for the responses.

    15. Zortrax Creator on June 20, 2013

@Tuan Lu - about the calibration - there will be mobile platform (stick pad) and we have really stable construction. The platform position will be constant. Stick pad with clasps avoids displacements. The need of manual calibration is only with periodic conservation for example after very long work.

@Kyle Philben - max. temp of extruder is 450 c.

@David Chase - about the wood filament - it's really long way. We want to focus on basic materials as: Z-ABS, ABS, PLA, PC, PC-ABS, Nylon. Thanks for all support!

@Hans Christian Thisen - we'll try to make one set!

@Maecolis - Yes, it will be available on our store. The cos will be about $19-24. The dual extruder will be also available and the cost will be $180-200

      Thanks for all questions!

Will Polycarbonate or ABS-PC be available sometime near launch? I noticed the material is listed as an option... What will the cost be?

Just wanted to wish the team good luck with the production of the printers, looking forward to receiving a 3d printer to put in use in my design company.
I had an stl file lying around containing a cutout of a headphone, I designed it some years ago for 3d printing, but I never got to print it. So I thought that if the Zortrax team had the time they could give it a go while we wait for the printers to ship... or anyone else if they want to ;-)

After reading about wood filament, if this machine can print using that material, I am super excited.
Can you determine before the KS ends if the Zortrax can print with wood?
I know that time is very short for this, so it is not a high priority but I would like to know officially if your machine can print wood.
Thank you for your time and this KS project

    20. Kyle Philben on June 18, 2013

What is the max extruder temp?

Hi, Also just wondering how is the Autocalibration platform going ?

    22. Zortrax Creator on June 18, 2013

      @Tuan Lu

The price of Z-ABS now is $19.

So if you pledge 1939, you get 1 white spool and 2 additional (instead of 1 additional).
If you pledge 2899/5899, you get 1 white spool and 6 additional (instead of 3 additional).

To make orders flexible (for example if you want to add some filament) we'll make ticket numbers for make the checkout on our store, so you'll be able to buy more Z-ABS ($19 per 1 kg).

    23. Zortrax Creator on June 18, 2013

@Kyle Philben - there are some black prints in the movie - it will be available.

Just wondering if you can clarify the number of filament we going to get. Are they all going to be Z-ABS ? and can we choose the colour ? If we need extra, do we just add $19 per 1kg it to our pledge ?

    25. Kyle Philben on June 15, 2013

I have not seen any black ABS yet.. Is that going to be a color option?

    26. David Chase on June 14, 2013

      Thank you and I replied.
Your responses here and via email have made me very happy to be a supporter of this project.
      Keep up the good work.

    27. Zortrax Creator on June 13, 2013

      @David Chase - we've answered!

    28. David Chase on June 13, 2013

I sent you a message asking about paypal. Did you get it?

    29. Zortrax Creator on June 13, 2013

@The6uest - The Z-ABS don't contain BPA, you can use water bottle one-twice but due of tiny micro slits which 3D printing can leave a space for bacteria that can reproduce. Due to lack of complete cleaning of slits. For food items you need totally smooth surface without any micro holes which 3D printing technology cannot offer today. We plan to check the medical grade material, is likely to be subjected to sterilizing it.
      All the best,

      The6uest on June 10, 2013

Thanks Zortrax! I chose the $1939 tier so I just increased it to an even $2040.

Is your ABS BPA-free? I'm new to 3D printing so I don't know if it is typical for ABS to contain BPA or not. Just curious though in case I want to print my own water bottle. :)

    31. Zortrax Creator on June 10, 2013

@Kuba Nowak - WiFi option will be one of the most important upgrades. Thank you!

    32. Zortrax Creator on June 10, 2013

For international shipping: choose plegde "for international only" - the system will add $199 automatically.
      For USA/Canada shipping: choose pledge "for USA/Canada only" - add $99 - with shipping it's 1998.

The PLA option will be included.

We'll prepare the manual for Backers how to make acetone vapor - it's really easy. The finishing kit will be also available on our store!

      Thank you!

    33. Zortrax Creator on June 10, 2013

David Chase - just use first plegde "$2 or more" and back it up 3 times with all amount 1998 for USA/Canada shipping or 2098 for international shipping (the prices with shipping cost), then send us a message which pledge you choose (USA/Kanada or international). And it will be done :)

      Thank you!

    34. David Chase on June 9, 2013

Question as I have a limit on my credit card which would take 3 payments to make the lowest pledge for a machine.
How would I be able to go about paying you for the pledge amount of $1,900?

    35. Missing avatar

      The6uest on June 7, 2013

In the pledges it says that shipping has to be added separately. Does that mean we have to "Manage pledge" and add that amount to the pledge price?

Also cool to hear that PLA will be an option and I'm looking forward to hearing more about the acetone vapor feature.

    36. Kuba Nowak on June 4, 2013

I wasn't able to pledge the full price, but I'm so getting Zortrax once it's out. Especially that the WiFi option is to be introduced.

    37. Ammar Mirza on June 1, 2013

Thanks for the quick reply! :) I just asked because I think this product is great and thought if PLA worked also it would made this even better. I just hope you have this ready so I will be able to use it with Mac OSX before you ship

    38. Zortrax Creator on June 1, 2013

@Ammar - we need a little more time to complete the 100% for ABS, and we'll add a profile for the PLA for all who want to use the PLA :)

      All the best,

    39. Zortrax Creator on June 1, 2013

@Ammar - I've never seen professional printer to use the PLA. We want the Zortrax to be a professional printer. The PLA is good material to print vase and simple models, however not suitable for printing useful objects.

      @Brad - Thank you :)

    40. Ammar Mirza on June 1, 2013

So this machine won't be able to PLA at all or can it?

    41. Brad Nemeth on May 31, 2013

Congrats on successful funding guys and gals! Autocalibration - looking forward to seeing how you meet that challenge. All the best, Brad

    42. Zortrax Creator on May 31, 2013

Thank you Tuan! Next week we'll show the prototype of the platform.

    44. Brad Nemeth on May 29, 2013

Great going guys! Thanks for the fast response.

    45. Zortrax Creator on May 29, 2013

      @Brad Nemeth,

The platform is made from aluminum will be upgraded. Autocalibration and easy-to-remove platform is the thing that we'll do during the Kickstarter campaign.

    46. Brad Nemeth on May 28, 2013

Regarding the bed support sub-structure, will it also be made from machined aluminum or other stable material? Other printers need frequent bed leveling, given the quality of the M200, I'm sure the zortrax team has considered the leveling nuisance. Yes?

Really impressive prints. And the printer is not very expensive compared to the Makerbot.

    48. Willhelm Henrich on May 25, 2013

WOW, ok I don't have any more questions, this is really amazing quality print! I look forward to a new batch of prints :)
