The Fall And Rise Of Zombies 1985 (The Bad And The Great News)
Thanks again for your support and continued patience waiting for Zombies 1985.
I (Maf) have been fighting the edit of what was shot last year in England for the best part of 2 months. We had a particularly difficult day filming a major scene in the 911 that turned out to be the hottest day of the year at 33C (91F), also our hope for deserted roads turned out to be lines of traffic, making keeping the 1985 period inconceivably difficult. Wading through hours of footage attempting to avoid another damn Kia or Lexus that always appeared in the best takes was painful.
Anyway, it just got to the point when I had to admit it wasn't going to be the film I wanted to make, it wasn't better than what we had done before, and it has to be. So I'm done with "the Zombies 1985 we shot in the UK", and I'm so sorry to all the wonderful people that worked so hard, had so much fun and gave so much time to it.
Bearing in mind that my obligation is to myself and Tara to make the best film and score we can, and to all the people who put up money to support the film, we've decided to reshoot it in the USA. I wanter to keep it quiet until I knew it was a reality, and it is now. We had our first day's shoot on Saturday 7th March and will be shooting the next major scene on Wednesday 11th March, and should be wrapped by the end of the week.
I also want to thank Gary and Gemma Numan for their support for the lending of their three awesome daughters who they let us kill for the day - what great sports! Of course our cast & crew have been awesome - actors Anna Ross & Lance Charnow, DP James Branscome & makeup artist Amy Wiener ....and of course our killer zombie girls Raven, Echo and Persia :) Here are some photos:
Thanks again for all your support, we're going to plough through this as quickly as possible. I'll keep you updated.
Maf & Tara.
