Strowlers, the new series from Zombie Orpheus Entertainment, is earning rave reviews on Amazon Prime, but the big question everyone asks is when do we get to see more?
Here's the good news: Strowlers is Creator Distributed and Fan Supported. You have the power to renew or cancel the show. Not some network executive. Not a big distributor. You.
With your support during this campaign, we'll fund three new Strowlers stories:
- an "interlude" short film starring Pepper (Lisa Coronado) and Frankie (Samara Lerman), set immediately after the events of Strowlers Ireland
- a full Strowlers episode in Copenhagen, featuring Frankie's first mission after returning from the Changing Lands, set directly after the interlude short film
- a Pepper Jones novel, a spy thriller set during World War II
Need to catch up? Strowlers is streaming now on Amazon Prime (US/UK), on Seed&Spark, and on our own platform, The Fantasy Network!
In Strowlers Ireland (Episode 2), Frankie learned that something bad for humanity is brewing in the Changing Lands, a supernatural realm that has been cut off from Earth for over a hundred years. Now, she travels to Copenhagen to find allies, but her best option may be a group of untrained kids with minor talents.
From storyteller Silas Mortensen comes a uniquely Danish episode about finding a place to learn and grow. Inspired by the youth protests for climate action that are sweeping Europe, this film explores the choices that young adults must make when older generations sacrifice their future in the name of stability and tradition.
Four young adults—two ethnically Danish and two the children of immigrants—gather regularly in an abandoned warehouse, hidden deep in an autonomous anarchist district in Denmark's capital, to explore their limited magical talents and to teach others what they've discovered.
Arrested by the police and quickly fitted with suppression collars, they now face a judicial hearing that could change their fates forever: potential deportation for some and mandatory Focusing (a process that burns emotion and personality away) for others.
But for Frankie, who just survived sixty years trapped in the Changing Lands, these four could be the best hope for the humanity's future.
Strowlers is a shared cinematic universe released under a copyright alternative that encourages everyone to "Tell your story and change the world."
In a world much like ours, but where magic exists and is regulated as strictly as plutonium, the Strowlers believe that magic is for everyone. Now, from the fringes of society, they're creating global communities of mutual support with the goal of building a better world.
The Strowlers story to date has featured episodes from Seattle, Ireland, and Mongolia, as well as a world bible, novelization of the pilot, and more. Now, fans and artists from around the world are creating their own Strowlers stories, all part of an award winning, interwoven narrative that we're telling collaboratively.
Strowlers is released under the Shared Cinematic Universe License Agreement (SCULA), which empowers everyone to retell, remix, and create new commercial works within the Strowlerverse.
An international co-production, the Seattle Strowlers team has collaborated with a group of Danish storytellers and live action roleplayers to bring this latest story to life.
We're sending seven team members from Seattle to Denmark in March to participate in the production of the film. While there we will work with Danish actors, crew, and their community to facilitate the production of a story that could only be told in Copenhagen.
As we did with episodes in Ireland and Mongolia, the production package is stripped down to bare essentials, using small cameras, natural light, and minimal gear while letting locations and performances speak for themselves. By facilitating the production of a Danish story—in real locations with local actors—we retain the spirit and atmosphere of this particular place and time, rather than imposing an outside perspective or interpretation. Every crew member wears multiple hats, enabling us to travel fast and light while still capturing extraordinary images and performances.
Thanks to the success of the first three Strowlers episodes on Amazon Prime, we're able to pay some of the production budget, but we still need help to cover the remaining cost of paying local cast and crew, travel and lodging, and local rentals.
As with any crowdfunding campaign we also have to cover platform fees, credit card processing fees, rewards manufacturing, and delivery.
1943. Pepper Jones has been recruited by the OSS for a critical mission deep inside Nazi Germany.
A supernatural spy thriller, this novel by Amanda Cherry explores an early chapter in the life of one of the Strowlerverse's most mysterious characters: Pepper Jones.
Pepper has appeared so far as a librarian in Episode 1 (Seattle) and as an ageless secret agent in Episode 2 (Ireland).
In the autumn of 1943, Pepper Jones is no stranger to magical intrigue. When a mysterious note rouses her from hiding, Pepper finds herself on a terrifying quest. Tasked with saving the fate of magic itself, she is forced to journey in and out of the Changing Lands and straight into the heart of war-torn Europe. It’s only when she arrives at Wewelsburg Castle that Pepper can truly grasp the gravity of the mission she’s been chosen to undertake. How will Pepper, with such little power of her own— and no hope of help from the Allies she’s been hiding from— stop the Nazis from shifting the tide of the war in their favor and possibly changing the nature of magic forever?
Amanda Cherry is an actress and author, a wife, mom, and a geek loving life in the suburbs of Seattle. Amanda’s short fiction has appeared in Cobalt City Christmas: Christmas Harder, and multiple editions of Mad Scientist Journal Quarterly. She was on the writing team for the Role play Game Acute Paranoia and is a staff writer for the Star Wars and geek culture site ToscheStation.net. Her debut novel, Rites & Desires, a contemporary fantasy starring a magic-wielding supervillain, released in 2018. She is an award-winning screenwriter and was a finalist in the 2018 NYC Midnight Short Story Contest. Find her online at www.thegingervillain.com and on Twitter @MandaTheGinger.

Of particular note, pledges of $10 and up include access to The Fantasy Network, a new streaming platform built to support independent fantasy and sci-fi filmmakers from around the world. Not only will you have the chance to watch Strowlers Copenhagen first, but you'll be able to watch dozens of incredible series and movies on the device of your choice, plus participate in exclusive livestreams from set and from our studio.
We also have some exciting and unique higher level rewards—
- At $100 you get to join us for exclusive livestreams from Denmark as we produce the new episode. Plus, we'll give you beta access to our new community hub, the Strowlers Backroom. This level is also eligible to receive stretch goals, like a deluxe hardcover edition of the novel.
- At $250 and $500 you'll work with us to add actual, canon lore to the world of the Strowlers. You'll meet with our story team, brainstorm, and we'll make the results official.
- At $1000 and up you'll receive credit on the episode and short film as an Associate, Co-, or Executive Producer. Plus, we'll use your canon lore in a future episode or edition of the world bible.
- And at $2500 and up a professional fantasy author will write a short story based on your piece of canon lore, which we will distribute!
NOTE: We understand that some backers prefer not to receive physical items, regardless of their reward level. You will have an opportunity during surveys to select only digital versions.
First, choose a pledge level to help support the film. Every bit helps, from $1 to $1000. With your support we'll be able to produce the movie and keep the story alive!
When the campaign has ended we will create surveys in BackerKit, our favorite pledge management platform, where you will be able to keep your shipping address updated, add extras to your pledge, and get notified when your incentives ship.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Our policy for excess funds pledged during the campaign is to spend them on producing Strowlers Copenhagen. Any amounts that you pledge over the cost of a pledge level will not count as credit in BackerKit. Only give more than a pledge level if you want us to spend your additional contributions making the show awesome.
We do not offer add-ons during the campaign. However, during the post-campaign surveys you will have the opportunity to purchase items like the Strowlers Pilot and Preludes discs and the Strowlers World Bible, as well as other items from our extensive back catalog.
THIS IS SUPER IMPORTANT: WE CHARGE FOR SHIPPING AFTER THE CAMPAIGN, IN BACKERKIT.
In order for your rewards to ship, you will need to pay shipping fees at that time. Do NOT add shipping fees to your pledge now.
- International Backers: expect to pay around $9.00 in BackerKit for base shipping on the $50 reward.
- United States Backers: expect to pay around $5.75 in BackerKit for base shipping on the $50 reward.
All shipping estimates are subject to change, but will reflect the best market rates we can find when fulfillment begins.
The Strowlers campaign will be fulfilled by our partners at Ship Naked. If we have enough European pledges we will fulfill from the Ship Naked shipping depot in Germany. If not, we'll fulfill from the USA in as EU-friendly a way as we can manage.
If you're a creator who loves Strowlers, this may be the most exciting news of all: we've released Strowlers under ZOE's new Shared Cinematic Universe License Agreement (the SCULA).
What does this mean?
It's like the Open Gaming License and Creative Commons had little license babies: it's an agreement that gives you permission to create, adapt, and release your own derivative works within the world of Strowlers!
Check out the web page for the full details, but the fast, dirty, and legally-nonbinding summary is that as long as you abide by the terms of the agreement, you have the freedom to create non-commercial AND commercial Strowlers derivatives. Make a roleplaying game. Shoot a web series. Create your art. Sell it if you want. Or give it away. It's your choice.
You, the fans, have made these works possible and this new agreement helps us give back. Come and play, you're invited!
Just remember to Share Alike, Transform (don't copy), provide accurate Attribution, and don't break the law.
Plus, if you want your creations to become a canon part of the world, we offer a path to make them official. And a cool seal. It's pretty awesome.
Thank you for supporting more creations within the Strowlerverse!
We are a fan supported and creator distributed company and we exist entirely because of the support from fans like you.
We also know that money isn't the most important part of your pledge. A pledge is an emotional investment in a shared goal. You're a key part of our community, whether you're giving one dollar or a thousand.
And a pledge is only part of the process. We succeed when we work together: to fund the campaign, to spread the word, to encourage the creators, and to create a community where everyone is welcome.
Welcome to the Strowlers, ZOE, and Fantasy Network family!
Risks and challenges
While we work hard to mitigate our risks, the unforeseen can always throw a curve ball. Sometimes we have to recast a role at the last minute. Sometimes we have to redo work in post if it doesn't meet our standards. Sometimes product gets delayed at the manufacturer. And any time international travel is involved, we have to be prepared to adapt and adjust with circumstances outside our control. But with a nine-year track record of crowdfunding success at Zombie Orpheus Entertainment, our reputation should speak for itself.
Additionally, we now have excellent relationships with manufacturers, our fulfillment partners at Ship Naked, the team at BackerKit, and everyone else who's part of making sure that our campaigns are completed to your satisfaction.
Our pledge to you is that we will always do our utmost to deliver on our commitment to excellence.
