"Like a leaf on the wind..."

Posted by Zombie Orpheus (Creator)

This is it. Four days remain. And in the words of Christian Doyle (and some other guy) if we don't make it, JourneyQuest will be gone "like a leaf on the wind."

In an effort to reach more of our YouTube audience, we've put together a new video, thanks to Christian, Emilie, and Brian. If you know anyone who is on the fence about supporting a new season, perhaps this will help!

What can I do?

Well first, you're here, you've pledged, and we can't thank you enough for your faith in us and this project! No matter what happens, we're grateful for your support and encouragement. That over 3000 people believe in JourneyQuest so much is an incredible gift and inspiration.

Right now, our best chance for success is to reach JQ fans who haven't pledged yet. Here's how we're reaching out:

  • Email: We'll keep sending correspondence to the 4700 member RenewJQ email list. We'll also send another notification to our 13,000 member general ZOE email list.
  • Facebook & Twitter: We have more videos, more updates, and more memes to share to pages with a combined audience of over 20,000 fans. If you're on either platform, commenting, liking, and sharing make a big difference in our reach. The more people engage with a post, the more people Facebook will show it to.
  • Steam: We should be launching on Steam shortly. If you use that platform, reviews and comments will help show new audiences that the show is worth watching. We'll send a separate update when the show goes live there.
  • YouTube: In addition to the video above, we have more "Many Talents" videos featuring Christian Doyle. Your comments and encouragement there can also help more fans take the plunge and become backers.

How should I engage with potential backers?

First, stay positive, friendly, and don't be pushy. We are only as strong as our community. How we treat each other matters. So even if you're feeling upset or sad about the state of the campaign, please find ways to frame the conversation in terms of why you love the show, how important our community is, and remember to care for each other.

And keep in mind, the economy still sucks for many, many people. People who may have been able to pledge a year ago could be in different financial situations now. Many backers have also been hit hard by changes in exchange rates.

JourneyQuest is important. Eating and paying rent are more important. Nobody should pledge more than they can afford, nor should they put theirs or their family's finances at risk.

This campaign only succeeds if thousands of backers pledge small dollar amounts to renew the show. It won't be carried on the backs of a few huge backers – although we of course have huge thanks for the backers who are financially secure enough to make those big pledges – it will be carried by the participation of many, many small contributors. We accomplish this together or not at all.

And if the campaign fails?

If the campaign fails, yes, we'll all mourn what could have been, but we'll also have hope for the future. We'll have another update out if the campaign fails that explains our plans for the JourneyQuest story in other media, the film projects we would be working on, and how we'll be taking care of the fans who helped pay for the script and development.

But we haven't failed yet!

We know that enough fans are out there to renew JourneyQuest. And we're at the stage this week where our shares, comments, and engagement could reach enough of a critical mass to reach them. So this is where we all engage, on our platform of choice, to help celebrate this show, why we love it, and how incredible a third season could be.

So come find us on social media and let's see how close we can get to our funding goal. It's not over until that Reaver spear crashes through the windshield.

Until then, watch us fly.

If you guys can't get the pledges here it might be worth running it again, but with Patreon. I would have no problems signing up to throw money into your guys' projects on a monthly basis, and I really want to see what happens in the next season. Please don't pull a firefly, I can't be hurt like that again! xD Good luck guys. We will do our best to help.

Matthew – Kickstarter is all or nothing. If we don't reach our goal, we get nothing, other than the memories of how many incredible people believed in this show and pledged to make it happen!

How close do you have to get to use the money we've pledged so far? Is it an all or nothing deal?

When looking at the goal and the funds currently raised, it is easy to lose track of one simple fact: You have managed to raise more than a quarter million dollars! Whichever way you look at it, it is an extraordinary feat. Now, let's make sure that the big lady will sing her heart out with joy!

We're not giving up until it's over, but you can trust that we spent three years looking for alternative funding or production options. Yes, that included pitching all over the place. So if we're hesitant to approach some options, consider that it might be because we already talked with them or were turned away at the door.

Now as someone else commented, there is still a lottery draw on Wednesday here in the UK. If I won that I'd totally give you the cash you guys need, but would need to ask you guys to wait till the money was transfered, however long that took :p

I'd be REALLY pissed off if this doesn't make it. I fear that the Kickstarter might've been released a bit too soon after Christmas where many people are licking the wounds from the holiday :p

If you do start another at a later date I'd totally donate and considering I've been actually budgeting myself successfully then I would be able to Donate more than the simple $25 that I could only spare this month what with all the loans and ect I have to pay.

Surely there must be some other way...please don't let this series die!

Guys, I really, really love your shows and movies, specially JQ.
I don't think you should cancel it just after one failed kickstarter. I mean, it's in your logo, "No cancellation" You can always try again, I'd still pledge.
This campaign may still make it, but if it doesn't and you give up on the show, I think that would be betraying your fans who expect to see the story through. Please, don't give up on Journeyquest. I love you guys.

guys what you have here is great. it's a great idea for a tv series. i'm just not sure(but also ignorant in the field) about the approach u guys have. i'm not optimistic about the results of this campaign on kickstarter. is there any way you guys could team up with hbo and maybe convince them to give you the cash and let you do your thing? also people don;t know about journey quest. i can share this everywhere but being an introvert(and a pretty nasty human being on top of that), i don't have many friends to share this with.
while you're at it, talk to hbo about a continuation for the awesome firefly (thanks "lodge" for your reference to it in yor kickass movie). guys... i'll pray for you, maybe also rob a bank. not sure about the first one tho'. *(i mean praying). stay strong. love you. love your show.
