New Add-ons + Reddit link!

Hey all!

First, we are doing a Reddit AMA tonight from 8pm-11pm EST so I hope you can join us!

Here is the link:

Second, we appreciate the awesome support you have already given us and would like to ask you to consider getting us to our goal by adding an Add-On reward to your pledge. If everyone was able to add at least $10, we would be there! We know that is asking a lot but we need to bring this up so we can make sure we get Shadowgate funded!

Okay, before we list the Add-Ons, here's how you can add these to your pledge:

  • On this Kickstarter page, simply press the Manage Your Pledge button. If you have not pledged yet, it will say Back this Project.
  • Increase your pledge in the Pledge Amount box by the total of the add-ons you want to add.
  • Do not change the tier you are currently pledged at (unless you also want to change it while on this screen.)
  • You will then need to select the Continue to Next Step button and then Confirm the changes.
  • At the end of the Kickstarter campaign, you will receive a survey that will ask you to explain how you would like the add-on money to be used.

$6 for Sherlock Pack + giving this champaign that little bit more of a chance to make it is a steal.

My point is redacted, I suppose.

But I do think that there is a way to balance cost and appraisal to help promote the extra items while still being mindful of the cost between tiers.

Then again redaction of money is a major concern at this point.

I know that I would add money in the last few moments if this was in jeopardy of failing, but I don't want to re-buy the tier rewards I currently have....

It is indeed a tough balance.

If I want the t-shirts, and have added 15$ for my shipping outside the US already (collectors edition box), do I still need to add 10$ for the t-shirt shipping?

    5. Creator Zojoi on November 21, 2012

On each physical tier it lists the costs for international shipping :)

    6. Creator Jamas Enright on November 21, 2012

While I myself am not getting any physical items, you might want to think about international people getting physical items... are you covering shipping or expecting people to do that, if so how?

It is also worth mentioning that Zojoi has actually added several digital rewards since launch. A few of these were given to existing backers as just icing on the cake.

Terrisus - Thanks for the comments/questions! We have received a good amount of email on this subject. Basically, anything that we marked as exclusive to this campaign will remain that way. However, there may be other items that we offer later that could scratch that itch :)

    9. Creator terrisus on November 21, 2012

Definitely excited about all of these add-ons, as there's a bunch of things in there that I would love.

I know the immediate concern is meeting our pledge goal and getting as much in by the deadline as possible. However, I do have to ask if it will be possible to do add-on pledges for some of these between when the Kickstarter finishes and when the game actually finishes.

If not that's fine of course and I certainly understand, but, given enough time, I would certainly love a number of things in there - as well as some of the options at the higher pledge tiers (softcover book, Staff of ages, etc.) And while I might not be able to get enough together for all of that between now and when the Kickstarter finishes, I definitely know that between now and next year I certainly would. Just curious, and at least a possibility to consider anyway.

And again, of course, thank you so much for everything that you're doing with Shadowgate.

All - We wanted to offer add-ons to different types of pledgers:
First, offer add-ons that were unique that anyone at any level could pick up.
Second, provide add-ons for the people who have sent me emails asking to buy another item in their tier (posters, maps, card games, etc.)

It is really tough to offer some of the higher tiered items (like the card game) at a lower add-on price without adversely affecting the tier they are currently offered at and frustrating those folks who pledged to it.

    11. Creator GiantenemyCrab of the Obsidian Order on November 21, 2012

Zojoi commented on the physical add one previously.

They did the math on the cost for most physical addons and it just didnt make financial sense for them to offer at lower tiers.

The items cost money to prepare and ship and if someone is at a low bracket adding money for just one of the physical addons then it either means Zojoi is losing money they could be using for development OR the cost of the addon has basically just bumped someone up to the tier they could purchase it at.

    12. Creator John Harman on November 21, 2012

Just talked to the Zojoi guys and you are right, there was an issue, which they were able to fix in that small window of time on this.

The logic of the addon tiers that you pointed out, in their minds, were that they would be additional items that people at those tiers could get to give as gifts or to have extras for themselves.

The worry about doing what you say is, that offering the card game at 30 and making it available at the next lowest tiers, is that it ruins the tier that it was put on in the first place and thus makes it more a la carte than planned rewards. Since people can jump in and adjust their money at any point, this would make at least a few jump ship and push the amounts down if you gave the ability for people to get the card game at lower tiers.

The whole goal here is to get the game funded...they need to hit the amount to get it funded. Your idea, while well thought out, leaves them open to dissatisfaction from the people who opted for those level rewards or people who drop to a lower tier and pay the add on price and either end up with an even level of money and not a raised level which is the whole point of the add on round.

      That make sense?

    13. Creator Nathan Wharry on November 21, 2012

I'm with Mark on this. Why offer things that we are getting already? If it's a tier exclusive, don't offer it as an addition. Give us other things like additional art, or special in game items. I doubt you'll get many people already getting those items buying another one just because.

    14. Creator Serena Nelson - Hero of the AGRM on November 21, 2012

Mark does have a point. Unless they want a second of the listed item, most of the add-ons are useless. Really, only the Holmes games, T-Shirts, and extra copies of the game make sense right now as a topper.

    15. Creator Mark Snyder on November 21, 2012

I love what you guys are doing, but these add-ons are a bit odd... You seem to be doing 2 things that make me want to ask you if I've gone insane or not.

You're proposing people pay extra for the items that they might not be able to pay the tier to get (Awesome, great way to push the kickstarter forward) However, to purchase, let's say, the Card Game, you have to be at a tier where you ..... already get the card game.

Now I know some people will want to purchase another set for collecting and what-not. But why not offer it to the people (At the same price as jumping up to the next set would cost you. So if they paid 10 bucks, they can pay the difference between ADEPT and ENCHANTER [30 bucks] to get the card game) instead of making them pay 120 dollars to get it.

Essentially I'm just saying that you should offer the tier-based rewards at the cost that the item currently costs to get to.

Card Game - 30 bucks (Adept to Enchanter)
Cloth Map - 20 bucks (Or 30 if you'd like) (Apprentice to Adept)
      Poster - Leave as is
      Soundtrack - Leave as is.

I'm only saying this because you're missing out on a chance for people who may want the card game, but don't want to pay 130 for it (Instead paying a respectable 40, instead of the 10 you were originally going to get).

      Done! Those t-shirts are dope!
