Election Day, Steam Greenlight and some Rich Douglas music!

Hey all,

We just finished posting Shadowgate in the 'Concepts' section on Steam Greenlight. You can find it HERE!

We would love it if you would both RATE and FAVORITE the game and feel free to post notes in the comments section. Note that voting on concepts gives us info and reactions but doesn't work toward getting the game distributed on Steam. However, it helps get the word out about the campaign and when we DO go live with the game, we are ready to allow folks to cast their votes!

Finally, here is a new Main Menu tune from Rich. He's awesome!

I don't know notes like some people, but it evokes my memories to hear familiar music like this.

(Incidentally, I e-mailed a friend a link to the YouTube version of the KickStarter video and told him to watch the first minute. Super-nostalgic blast for him.)

Good point. Removed it and will update it with just the beginning...

I'm not sure if Steam's going to like the kickstarter video being used on the Greenlight page.

Whoa...I'm almost more excited of the soundtrack than the game (note: almost).

DAMMIT this needs to get funded!!!

Glad everyone is enjoying the music!

Purposeful. It is afterall a remix :). It's similar enough to be instantly recognizeable but with my own flare and take on the piece. This sort of approach comes from years of ocremix submissions. If those judges taught me one thing, it's that a direct interpretation of a chiptune can be rather boring. Good catch though!

Oh...! I love the buildup and the choral phrase that breaks in through the middle section! Awesome work--

A slightly picky comment coming up-- (Music's a huge thing for me--so I'll tend to be picky about these things. =P)

The continued bass line played by the rumbling, low strings (C D Eb G - repeat): listening to the original recording, it actually starts on (D Eb G C - repeat, with D on the downbeat rather than what logically should be the downbeat, the lowest note 'C')--so the melody and the low bass's first two notes are both D and Eb in the original. In this remix version, the melody starts with D Eb --, while the low bass starts with C D --. I'm not sure if this was purposeful, for the sake of dissonance, or that you tried doing it the way the original was done, and it ended up sounding strange with this new instrumentation. I'm also not sure how the embellished sections will sound with the bass line slightly shifted, though it could be interesting.

Of course, I'm fine with whatever your final decision is. :3
Loving it so far--keep up the awesome work!

The new tune sounds fantastic and it definitely evokes the atmosphere I've come to expect from Shadowgate. Great work, guys!

Done and done. I upvoted Shadowgate on Steam. I hope it makes it, along with all the other ones that I voted on.

Such a great remix of the classic tune, with its own air and identity. This is going to be an amazing game.
