Zeyez Update

Dear Kickstarter Backers -

Your support has been the driving force behind the Zeyez production, and we appreciate the momentum our Kickstarter community has given us!

We have received numerous emails and offers of assistance from our Kickstarter supporters since our last update.  We greatly appreciate all the feedback that you have given us and would like to increase the dialogue between us in the most positive way possible.

Your concerns regarding a shipping date have not fallen on deaf ears.  As mentioned in the previous update, the engineering process has taken longer than we originally anticipated and as a result we've had to postpone our target shipping date of Zeyez to you.  We have been hesitant to offer a new tentative shipping date without being certain that we can fulfill by that date.  Rest assured that we will be sending a shipment update featuring a precise list of production timeframes from the Zeyez engineering team soon.

In a previous update, we shared with you a recognition we received from the World Technology Network, a nomination as a top 5 finalist for most innovative IT Hardware of 2011.  In light of our previous award, we would like to officially announce that Zeyez has also been recognized as a top 3 finalist by the Edison Awards for most innovative photography/video product of 2012!  We would like to share this exciting accomplishment with all of you, and thank you for helping us make it a reality.

To further our goal of increasing dialogue with you, we would like to get feedback from you in regards to the Zeyez smartphone application. We would like to hear your input on what features you'd like to see in the final product.  Please share your insights so we can incorporate your feedback now and create the best smartphone application available!

Here is a basic list of the functionality of the Zeyez application that we believe is crucial:

1. Direct synchronization with social media websites for sharing video (Facebook, YouTube, Livestream, JustinTV, Ustream) which would provide the ability to either livestream video or upload recorded video.

2. View finder for easy video review.

3. Seamless video editing which would provide the user with the ability to upload portions of recorded video.

4. The ability to synchronize the application with not only Zeyez products but also with the camera embedded in your smartphone.

Please feel free to post any recommendations on this Kickstarter update or email them to info@zioneyez.com. Don’t forget - you are the architects of RevolutionZeyez.

hey.. has anyone got refund till date.. i m totally disappointed by these people. the product is already almost a year late and still no firm date on shipment.

    2. Creator f8full on May 19, 2012

Ok I'll admit I haven't read everything, but being an android developper, I beg you to provide an API to integrate programmatic start/pause/stop of recording and retrieving of video feed. Basically, a cool API to interact with the hardware. I dunno if you already intent to integrate like the system camera, going through the same APIs. You can contact me if I'm unclear.
Anyway, keep the hard work up, I would have love to have them on nose here in Montreal's but I'll be patient.

    3. Creator Max Ziebell on May 11, 2012

Whats the name of the other product?

    4. Creator Mido CyberDragon Taha on March 31, 2012

i've found cooler and better Video recording glasses, so i would really love it if i just get refunded so i can go and buy the other product instantly !!!

    5. Creator ozymandias (ZionEyez,CGC Scam victim) on March 26, 2012

Looks like ZionEyez didn't want to try for that award: "To be considered for a 2012 Edison Best New Product Award, your innovative product or service must have been launched between July 1, 2010 and February 29, 2012. If your product or service has not yet been launched and is still in development, please feel free to submit a nomination once you have reached production level."

    6. Creator Here & there on March 21, 2012

How do you get a 2012 award for a "new product" when the product doesn't even exist yet?

    7. Creator Here & there on March 21, 2012

Trying to stay optimistic, but that seems to be the reason why we still don't have these glasses.
ZEYEZ! SPILL IT, OR REFUND IT!

    8. Creator Zack Miller on March 20, 2012

Gotta say I'm leaning to the refund camp. Instead of an apology and a firm release date, they solicit emails. WTF? It's not as if there are several different complaints here, each requiring an individual response.

It was Winter 2012. Now it's Summer 2012. What does Summer mean?

I'm surprised Kickstarter doesn't have a system in place for refunds. I could use that money right now.

Has anyone contacted Kickstarter higher-ups? I'm not angry enough to say they should be banned yet, but they should certainly be forced to pay out refunds to those who demand them. They got six times the money they needed! Pay out the refunds and be happy with what's left.

    9. Creator Vinciane on March 20, 2012

I suggest an upgrade or another gift To reward peuple for their patience and hope To get it for this summer or before!

    10. Creator montree sae-tang on March 18, 2012

bull shit! i been waiting nearly year and now what!! i need my money back

    11. Creator Crutcher Dunnavant on March 17, 2012

I want a launch date or a refund. The product is 3 months late, and the team seems to still be developing, rather than building, the product.

    12. Creator Darva Campbell on March 17, 2012

Could we have another update, please? It's been over a month . . .

    13. Creator Justin Martin on March 15, 2012

      "Scope-creep" much?

    14. Creator Nexus2k on March 14, 2012

Is it possible that the development team never heard of Project Management and the part of it which is called feature freeze ? You can't finish a project which constantly modifies its goals...

    15. Creator Christopher Neitzert on March 14, 2012

Hi, I just wrote you per the Feb 24th promise to reply within 48 hours. I expect that you will respond positively within 48 hours. failure to do so will result me my contacting my credit card company and issuing a charge back.

    16. Creator Brad Plajstek on March 13, 2012

Any updates on this project? Starting to get impatient

    17. Creator Marcus Lim (deleted) on March 12, 2012

If you are a backer on this project, you MUST immediately call your credit card company and lodge a chargeback or complaint against ZionEyez.

If you put enough pressure on the bank, they will start investigations against this company. At best, you'll get your money back. At worst, you'll still alert a large number of financial institutions against ZionEyez and their executives, and this will make it much harder for them to pull this kind of fraudulent behaviour in the future, individually or as a company.

    18. Creator Lawrence Ku on March 2, 2012

I want to get my money back so I can buy this:

    19. Creator ozymandias (ZionEyez,CGC Scam victim) on March 1, 2012

      @ Luke,

I am fine with it taking a while -- I, like all the other people complaining, have made it very clear that it's not the wait, it's the lies, the excuses, the lack of communication, and the broken promises that are causing the problem. I can afford to 'lose' the $150 -- but at this point in the game, I am far more interested in having it back, and buying one of the many similar products that are starting to be produced -- or give that money to a kick starter project that is going to be grateful for the contribution, and treat me with respect and honesty. How can you say they are working on the product? They have even stated that they are not actually working on the product, but seeking more financing.

    20. Creator ozymandias (ZionEyez,CGC Scam victim) on March 1, 2012

Well, I can't say I am surprised to find out that the latest claims of 48 hour response times are as bogus as all the other past claims. While I am still waiting on a response to a message sent months ago, I sent them a new message to give them the benefit of the doubt. I sent them an email to the requested address, I left the same message on this comment thread, and I sent them a message via Kickstarter. I'm here to report that two days later, I have not heard a single word from Zion Eyez. they have not bothered to even confirm that they got my messages, let alone sent a meaningful reply.

ZionEyez, when will the lying stop, and when will you start noticing that you have backers that are looking for information? I sent you a message, as per your request, through the off-kickstarter line of communication, (which is an odd request on your part), and you have not responded to my inquiry, not even with a form letter.

      This is beyond unacceptable.

    21. Creator Luke Gurry on February 29, 2012

@greezer, If someone didn't have or is hard up for $150 to begin with, why invest in a prototype product that isn't even in full production? The definition of investing is to use, give, or devote (time, talent, MONEY etc.), as for a purpose or to achieve something. Clearly the Zion-Eyes team is trying to make sure their product is not inferior and want to give us our money's worth. What would all these people rather they do: improve on their promised product so they don't ship us complete crap, or would you want them on here answering every little stupid question, micromanagement style so they had NO time to devote to a superior product?

Get off their backs everyone! They're working on their product and your incessant bitching is not helping!

      ... and scene.

    22. Creator f8full on February 27, 2012

Personally, I'd like to have an airplaine mode, not on the app but on the glasses themselves : ie being able to suspend any bluetooth functionality, that'd double as a way to save battery too.

    23. Creator ozymandias (ZionEyez,CGC Scam victim) on February 24, 2012

      Dear ZionEyez Team,
Please read the rest of the comments and reply to them as well.

    25. Creator Steven King on February 21, 2012

Biggest feature I would want in the phone app for these glasses is a well implemented rolling record window.

Bonus points if the rolling record mode can be changed to a permanent record mode by pressing a button on the glasses.

      Use case:
I will wear these glasses while driving. If something happens. I'll have 10 mins to press the button the side of the glasses and go into permanent record mode. Like if I get into an accident. I want to have the 10 mins of video leading up to it and the 20 minute exchange with the other driver recorded on my phone.

I don't really care about instant uploading to popular video sites out there, I'm not a video blogger and I care too much about privacy to ever live stream my life to the world... I would care about upload via FTP or better, ssh, so I can transfer the video to my own server for safe keeping

    26. Creator greezer on February 21, 2012

@Luke: oh, do you have some spare money? So give it to us then! Because we f**ked up 150$+ and don't get anything. PM me if I can send you my banknumber to transfer some money on my account ;)

    27. Creator froy on February 20, 2012

      @luke hehehe yeah

    28. Creator Luke Gurry on February 20, 2012

I've never commented on one of these updates before... but does anyone else think that ozymandias should have invested in Pampers instead of these glasses?

    29. Creator ozymandias (ZionEyez,CGC Scam victim) on February 16, 2012

@Rob -- I doubt any such feature is planned. The game appears to currently wait-out the backers, and run off with the money, not provide an actual product.

    30. Creator Darva Campbell on February 16, 2012

I'm trying to give you all the benefit of the doubt -- I do understand manufacturing takes time -- but the quality of your updates is abysmal.

The attitude of your backers would be completely different if rather than marketing mumbojumbo every month or two you would provide BRIEF and DETAILED bi-monthly updates.

One paragraph with info such as: We met with the production team at so and so operations and have decided to go (or not to go) with them, because XYZ. Next week we will . . . More soon!

Would be enough to make most of us relax a little and be more patient.

As it is, your updates have been absolutely empty of ANY detail that would lead us to believe you were actually trying to manufacture these things.

One of the reasons I support Kickstarter projects is to LEARN from the PROCESS. You have not shared enough of the process with us for us to learn or know anything about the manufacturing. The only details you have shared are NON-details. "We are talking to people who might give us more money ..."

That'doesn't tell us where we are with manufacturing AT ALL. Do you even have a manufacturer? If not, who have you looked at and rejected, and why?

Please make your updates more frequent and more informational. We don't need pages of non-information.

    31. Creator Rob Bucharest on February 16, 2012

I think everyone would agree that having the glasses being able to take photos as well as record video should also be a feature. I haven't been following all the comments posted on updates but I'm sure this topic has already been brought up. But having a camera feature paired with the ability to take a picture using the Zeyes app through one's smart phone would be good for those who's camera phone takes leas quality picture.

Does anyone know if the Zeyes will include this feature? You'd think it would be fairly easy to include

    32. Creator David Elliott on February 16, 2012

How do we contact the Edison Awards people to tell them how poorly this project is being managed?

I am one of your French Kickstarter Backers ... and this is a momment that i hope to receive my zioneyes who are late delivery, following improvements to your technique first orders ....
      recommendations .....
      For improvements:
1 - do not forget an application for macbook air also, in the same way as you have applications for iphone and IPADE ...
2 - 1 to 4 points you raise in your last update are mandatory and necessary after me.
3 - I think also a direct relationship with the camera or IPADE iphone or macbook air and can view and record live at the same time as a webcam on these same materials that will refresh the memmoire 8 g installs in your lunnettes.
4 to 1 important thing lunnettes ability to operate even when they are charging with the USB cable and thus increase recording time which is a few hours on battery, see at the same time as for the iphone or iphone relieves wifi connection and passes data with the USB cable at the same time it loads ..
5 - Able to manage applications with the lunnettes, zoom software, developed, batery time, e, etc. etc. direct recording on iphone, or macbook air or IPADE
6 - LEDs can be for recording night if space permits
7-1 application that can run a distance with the glasses you are somewhere and operators can see what you see at the other end of the mac through the network as a camera with a wireless ip security connections, connect on wi-fi or on your iphone or IPADE ...
Anyway do not forget to keep us informed regularly as in the case or it would be a scam, I kindly warns you that you have THE EUROPEAN COURT of Justice on the back and it will take time but I need ' ontiens always what I should and it's not the money in it even as I advance for your project, but by principle of respect and Honesty and good manners .....

"comment on the Zeyez smartphone application.." ?? WTF? Doesn't it just have to see the glasses 'n pull a file over? Save the "seamless integration" and editing bullshit for another Kickstarter project. ;-)

    36. Creator Tim Webster on February 16, 2012

Instead of telling us that you "goal is to increase dialogue" why don't you just send some more regular updates? They don't have to be groundbreaking - but regular news is better than news where you tell us how you want to tell us more news!

    37. Creator Muescha on February 16, 2012

Create additional cams witch can also attahed to thr recording stream so i can place this cam on a other place on my clothes and the i have an addtional point of view. Each cam (incl the iphone cam) should be recordet as an additional video and in playback i can switch easy between the cams.

    38. Creator ozymandias (ZionEyez,CGC Scam victim) on February 16, 2012

My suggestion for a feature is to implement a refund system, since you are refusing to respond to posts and concerns of your backers. I would like a concrete update with the details your backers have been requesting for *months* now -- that you are ignoring and refusing to provide. Stop making excuses, and start solving the problem. One question though -- how are you being nominated for these awards with a product that doesn't even exist?

    39. Creator Kay Sindre Skogseth on February 16, 2012

Looking forward to the shipment update and a precise list of production timeframes soon!
Very happy for the updates, it was quiet for way too long =)

    40. Creator Geeq Magnisi on February 16, 2012

I want a legit shipment date. And if it's not by March 20th, 2012, these glasses better be upgraded past the original specs to be equivalent to the GoPro HD Hero2. And that shipment date better STILL be before the end of June 2012.

    41. Creator Jimmy Chung on February 16, 2012

sorry, but you're going to lose to Lytro. was it really worth taking all that time to put this update together knowing that you can't win? couldn't that time have been spent trying to get your product out quicker?

    42. Creator Dan Raeder (deleted) on February 16, 2012

Kickstarter, have you no thoughts about this unfortunate success? It seems that many people paid in, which afforded the founders of the project to seek venture capital, hire some marketing non-sequiturs, and string along your investors. This project was the only one I spent some money on.. It is also going to be the last.. There is no guarantee for us investors.. no protection if we're taken for a ride. For all we know, Zion Eyez is busy investing in derivatives and other exotic financial instruments, with a lot less risk.

    43. Creator Dan Raeder (deleted) on February 16, 2012

I know there are engineering hurdles to overcome.. But right now, because of the marketing spin on everything, getting a pair of these feels like a con: "No, I have your money in front of me. Let's meet for coffee so I can pay you" . . . . Right before the coffee meeting: "Hey, I'm so sorry I can't meet you today. But let's get together for dinner. I know this great place. It's on me, and I'll buy. Of course, I'll have your money, too." . . . . Waiting for your colleague to show up, after several hours, you pay your own tab and go home. A few days later: "I'm so sorry I missed our appointment. Let me make it up to you by singing this song. I have a dance that accompanies it, too. What? No, I'm not conning you out of your money! I'm improving our experience when I finally pay you!"

    44. Creator sorabji on February 16, 2012

I NEVER HEARD OF THE EDISON AWARDS. IS THAT LIKE "COOL SITE OF THE DAY"?

    45. Creator greezer on February 16, 2012

I would appreciate a response here in public to each of the following questions. If you decide to ignore the questions, I will continue to ask them and you will look even more foolish and uncooperative than you have shown yourselves to be to date. 1) When should we be expecting to receive the product you promised we'd already have received? 2) Why should we believe you this time? 3) Why has it taken you so long to communicate with your backers? 4) Will you be providing us with any substantive information about your progress that doesn't read like a regurgitated press release spouting vague marketing babbletalk? 5) Will you be providing dissatisfied backers with full refunds upon request?
As soon as you've refunded my $150 I'll stop asking questions. Your move ZionEyez...

    46. Creator ajgarcia999 on February 16, 2012

    49. Creator Jim Strasma (deleted) on February 15, 2012

So long as it remains a felony here in Illinois to record audio of what a camera sees without approval by both parties to a conversation, it would be great for Zeyez to have a video-recording-only option.
