Who doesn’t love them? Am I right? Or at least love to shoot them?
Well you are in luck, new best friend, because I’m making a game to do just that!
It’s an idea I came up with in England. In the shower. I know, NEI (Not Enough Information), but that’s all you’re going to get about that. Sorry.
Zombie Fortress is a zombie survival game.
As you can see from the video, you’ve made it to safety, but the only way to stay safe is to rescue other survivors. You’ll have to defend them while they try to make it to the fortress. To do this, you’ll use an array of weapons that you collect or build to kill the zombies before they can attack and kill the survivors. Survivors bring things you need with them, and can be sent back out to get more things.
It’s tower defense-y, it’s gauntlet-y, it’s a lot of things-y.
To get the game developed, the 3D artwork, and the sound created, I’ve got Santa Cruz Games helping me. They've developed games for Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo. Including Tomb Raider: Underworld for the DS
They don’t come cheap though, and that’s why I’m here, so I can afford to pay them when they are finished making my game awesome. Also, I want to do frequent updates and add new maps, weapons, and zombie types to the game. Any money I make over the goal will go towards those updates.
To thank you for your pledge to help fund the game’s creation, I have a load of great rewards:
Everyone that pledges 10 dollars or more gets a copy of the game on me.
Don't have an iPhone? NO PROBLEM! I have other stuff for you. And you don't actually HAVE to take a reward you know. You could just pledge out of the kindness of your heart and all that junk.
I’m making three sets of foldable 3D paper figures, five figures in each set. The designs will be professionally printed on card stock and sent to you uncut. You cut them out, fold them, and glue them together to make the 3D figures. One set will be zombies; one set will be people (not necessarily live, intact people…); and one set will be variants of figures from the other two sets.
My brother makes plush toys (spy cats, love-sick robots and pandas, etc…) most of them have secret magnetic features. He’s agreed to help me create a plush zombie, and I’m gonna come up with some cool magnetic feature… http://bit.ly/HoracePic
Do you like clothes? Sure we all do. So I’m making a zombie t-shirt. Not exactly sure what the design will be, but I quite like the stick men zombies from the end of the video, it might be something with them.
Finally, and the thing I’m most excited about, I’m offering you a chance to create a weapon that will be added to the game as either a free In App Download, or as a game update. It can be any kind of crazy (non-obscene) thing you can think of to kill a zombie, but it has to work with the game. So if you suggest something that won’t I’ll make sure that we get together and tweak it so that it will. I hope that a lot of you decide to design weapons, because that’s part of the fun of the game, taking out zombies with something cool or ridiculous.
Take a look at all the pledge levels, I wanted to make all the various ways to split up the rewards so you could get exactly what you wanted, but I got tired. If there is some grouping of rewards that you want that isn’t there send me a message and I’ll see what I can do for you.
Feel free to message me if you have any questions or comments.
I’ll be putting up links to the website for the game and the Facebook fan page soon.
( UPDATE: It's soon-ish... The fan page is still under construction, but the webpage is up! http://www.firebongo.com/zombiefortress/ Check it out! )
(NEW UPDATE: The fan page is done and is running a contest until March 11, come check it out! http://bit.ly/ZFonFB)
Thanks for pledging! Tell your friends!
