Thank you to all who have made the Chroma possible! It is also available at our website www.zeloswatches.com
Chrismas delivery for the basic Chroma is confirmed!
Production is well ahead of schedule and do expect a delivery date of early Dec at latest for the basic Chroma. Skeleton models will still be slated for a Jan delivery though due to a shortage of the movements from Miyota.
TheTimeBum- "Chroma in both its forms is a clever design with the sort of unexpected, fun details that made the Helmsman so appealing."
WatchReport-"The Zelos Chroma looks promising, and is an affordable option for someone wanting an automatic in a modern casual design."
WatchPaper- "the Skeleton has a rather austere look, quite a rare feature for such a watch, readability is not sacrificed for the sake of showing the internal parts of the mechanism."
The Coolector- "the perfect style choice for you and if you’re after a minimalist style watch that doesn’t cost the earth."
ACWatchBlog- "they have held on to one important feature from the Helmsman; value for money!"
After the successful debut of our first watch, the Helmsman, we were inspired to create a second Zelos timepiece. It had to have a unique yet versatile design, quality automatic movements and offer plenty of value.
The Chroma is a culmination of these qualities. Its modern aesthetics is a versatile compliment to any outfit, yet captivating you with its understated design features.
The stainless steel case is finely sculpted by modern CNC machines with refreshing clean lines grazing the steel contours. Up close, discover the sensuous curves of its case flanks that are perfectly smooth to the touch. A delicate mix of brushed and polished steel surfaces completes the experience.
Similar to the glass engine windows on supercars to display its masterpiece, we chose a sapphire caseback for the Chroma. The mechanical movement 8215 made by Miyota (subsidiary of Citizen) is a marvel of gears and springs working purely on its wearer’s motion. To compliment this visual experience, we have PVD coated the rotor an elegant rose gold which was well received in our previous model.
The main crystal is crafted from sapphire, the hardest material available and scratched only by diamond. Its inner layer has been coated with an anti-reflective coating which primarily serves to prevent glare, and providing a beautiful blue tint at certain angles.
The dial was carefully designed to stay true to its minimalist roots, brushed with sleek radial lines to give off a sunburst effect that is beautiful and dynamically reflects light. An inner reflector ring replaces the traditional hour indices with cutouts, introducing dimension and depth. Finally, polished hands provide clear contrast for easy readability.
We paid attention especially to the details usually neglected. Engineered to the same standards as the casing, the buckle on the Chroma was precisely machined with cut outs adorning the sides, making it an ideal companion to the watch. The genuine leather strap sports a velvety smooth finish which makes it soft to the touch.
For those intrigued by the mechanical marvels of the movement, the Chroma: Skeleton is available with an exquisite movement which has any unnecessary parts of the movement removed to offer a better view of its internals. The dial is designed in conjunction to provide a tantalising peek without sacrificing too much legibility.

My name is Elshan Tang and I'm the founder of Zelos. The Chroma is the second watch after the successful launch of the Helmsman. Zelos is Greek for zeal which expresses my passion for wristwatches and the primary reason why Zelos was founded. From a young age, I have always had a fascination for kinetic mechanisms, and I have been drawn to watches ever since I discovered the detailed perfection of watch designs. After collecting watches for a decade, I realized the high prices were mainly due to brand inflation. Having completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering which provided the relevant skills, I decided to design my very own watch to prove that quality could be had at a fraction of the price. Zelos aims to be a brand with cutting-edge watch designs and quality materials, staying always true to our affordable roots.
Due to the astounding response at the start of this project, I decided to start production immediately with the help of my own funds. This will help keep everything on schedule and might even be ahead of the planned deadlines if we're lucky. I will be bringing a detailed update soon about the production with more pictures! Last I heard the cases were complete which is the slowest part of production.
We have the final production samples from a reliable manufacturer whom we built the Helmsman with and are ready to begin full production. CAD files for the mold are ready as well and are awaiting the signal to begin work.
Being our second project, we have a better grasp of the timelines and understanding of manufacturer practices. Quality has been verified to be excellent from the prototypes as well as from the production of the previous design.
The funds raised from Kickstarter will be used to pay for full production of the watch and accessories. This includes
-Tooling and mold costs
-Raw materials for cases, straps and packaging
Production is due to begin once the goal has been reached, hopefully much sooner than the project deadline! This will help to save some time in these busy months of manufacturing. Some time will be needed to do crucial testing such as waterproofing and timing tests. The watches are project to ship early December and we will try our best to get these watches in your hands before Christmas. However, having experienced delays with our previous project we are wary to make any promises for this. Please note that the skeleton model will be due about a month later due to the shortage of available movements.

Risks and challenges
As with our previous project, we have placed a reservation with the Miyota movements which are in high demand to minimise the likelihood of a delay.
A huge problem for our previous project was the use of bronze combined with a complicated case design which caused many delays for mass production. Having learnt from our previous experiences, we have planned and finalised the design for mass production to minimise any errors. Also, the use of stainless steel is relatively easy for production as compared to a new material like bronze with very different mechanical properties.
To also simplify order fulfillment, we have removed the ability to reserve specific serial numbers. This was a problem as some pieces might fail our QC and have to be remade, leaving the backer of that particular serial number waiting far longer than others. We have also placed a cap on the number of pieces that are able to be ordered to make sure production facilities are able to keep up.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
