Support LGBT comics!

Hi there!

In case you hadn't seen it, I wanted to let you know that we're running a Kickstarter to fund Northwest Press' fall releases: Dash and A Waste of Time. We're down to the final days of the campaign, and are within reach of our goal!

Northwest Press has a mission to publish LGBT-interest comics and graphic novels of all kinds and we're passionate about our work, even though sometimes it can be a challenge. People get the mistaken impression that our books are only for LGBT people, or that they're "issues" comics that are preachy, or that politics take precedence over story.

Now that you've read RISE, and seen the level of care and polish we give to our books, I hope you share our belief that these comics really are for everyone, and can help us keep producing great work.

Please check out the campaign and watch our intro video, and take a look at the wide variety of rewards available to backers. If you decide you can't pledge right now, please share the link and let people know Northwest Press is a publisher worth supporting.

With your help, we can do it!

Love,
Zan

Hello, everyone!

Sorry for the delay in writing to you after the conclusion of the Kickstarter for RISE: Comics Against Bullying. Over here at Northwest Press, we wrapped up our convention travel about a little over a week ago and got right into polishing up RISE for publication. We've got our printer secured, our quotes nailed down, and even submitted the first issue to be solicited in Diamond's PREVIEWS early next year!

We're a bit behind—having originally planned to send books out in November—but the reason is that the print issues have gotten an upgrade to 48 pages each, and we're needing to do some rearranging and prep work so that every story is presented in just the right order and the series balances well. Seeing the stories that are going to be in the first installment, all at once, was pretty breathtaking. So you'll be getting more stories than you bargained for, but a bit later than planned.

And those books are going to be gorgeous! Designer Adam O. Pruett has been doing exemplary work on the supplementary pages (bios, tables of contents, resource info) and the cover, with art by Dawn Griffin. I like to think we do a good job around here packaging our books and making them look good, but RISE might just be our best-looking comic book yet.

More news to come as soon as we have release dates and info about how you can ask your local comics shop to carry the book. But the wheels are turning and the train has left the station! :-)

Thanks again for your support! We couldn't do it without you.
