KickSat Will Fly Again!

Hi Everyone,

KickSat will fly again! I was just notified that KickSat-2 has been selected for a launch by NASA's CubeSat Launch Initiative. You can read more about it on NASA's website. In addition to KickSat-2, thirteen other CubeSat teams were selected from all over the U.S.

We don't yet know when our launch will be, but I will be sure to keep you updated. Thanks again to all of you for your support over the past three years.

      Hi MIchael,
A conservative date for delivery of Sprite code and/or hardware to me would be October. I'm guessing there will be a lot more time due to the recent SpaceX mishap. We're currently aiming for CRS-9, but that is not yet confirmed.

This is probably a bad time to ask, but do you have any specifics on launcher and dates, e.g., which scheduled resupply mission? Also, given a launch date, how many months in advance should we provide you with possible donor hardware modifications for Sprites? I realize the launch is likely to be delayed repeatedly, like last, but it would still help to know a possible earliest deadline.

      Hi Jay,
Yes, that is the plan right now. We will fly exactly the same configuration of Sprites as last time. All of the hardware changes between KickSat-1 and KickSat-2 will be in the CubeSat avionics.

      Hi Zac,

Are you planning to fly the original sprite configuration? i.e. if I had a sprite on Kicksat-1(did), do I have one on 2?

      Congratulations!
Hope it all goes well, but in any case you learn a lot from it.

Thanks Bob. We're not looking for more money at the moment.
