Here we are, in 2018, with our earthbound cars and our regular old selves, still listening to music like we humans have always been doing. Welcome to the future.
I keep hearing about virtual reality, but I'm making an album of songs for regular reality. The kind of reality where you realize that life doesn't always turn out the way you imagined, but you still wake up every day with a choice to make the best of it or throw in the towel.
These are "make the best of it" songs. And I guess there's a bit of "throw in the towel" music in here too, because I know that's the best each of us can do some mornings.
There are times I've been tempted to throw in the towel on making music, but it keeps pulling me back in, like maybe it's worth it to sing some truth out into the void and hope it can do some good along the way.
So here I am, making a new record and inviting you to join me in bringing it to life. The bare bones budget for this record is around $11,000. I have around $3,000 saved up already, and I'm working my butt off to add to that. If I can raise $6,000 or more through Kickstarter, I can get it to the finish line.
I'll be posting updates here throughout the writing and recording journey, with sneak peaks into new songs and my creative process.
WHAT TO DO
1. Look through the rewards options.
2. Click on the one you want and enter your pledge. Simple as that.
You can add a super soft T-shirt to any reward tier. Here's how:
- When making your pledge, add an extra $25 above whatever reward tier you're selecting.
- If you've already made a pledge and want to add a T-shirt, select "Manage Your Pledge." Increase your pledge amount by $25, but don't change your reward tier.
After the campaign is finished, you'll receive a survey to get sizing information.
Risks and challenges
I'm planning to record the album this spring, with a tentative release date of late summer or fall.
If this Kickstarter fails, then I have to go back to square one and re-evaluate if there's another way to bring these songs into the world.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
