Hi, my name is Harold Wallace.
You have never met me because I am a figment of Yvette Edery’s imagination. Yvette was standing with her friend in a deli in New York City, years ago, when she saw two blind elderly folk, walking arm in arm, down a side street. She imagined their lives, maybe one was okay with their disability, perhaps the other had not adapted so well, she thought to herself…
I’m the older gentleman. Yvette registered her idea with the writer’s guild ages ago, and has since attended Ela Their’s writing workshop to develop the piece. Yvette is quite the diligent artist, having attended NYU for her Masters, then teaching in the Tisch School shortly thereafter; she’s not the type to let the ball drop. In fact, I believe she made a film or two you can watch below. Those films have already shown in hundreds of film festivals across the globe and won awards and been made part of the permanent collections at major museums internationally. She’s a swell gal. Writer, director, producer, actress and puppeteer…somebody called her the female Charlie Chaplin once, and she’s been billed as a top reason to attend major film festivals alongside Oliver Stone and Ewan McGregor. Not too shabby for a young puppeteer.
Why do I, Harold Wallace, think you should help my dear friend Yvette Edery make this picture? Other than there is no way for me to come alive outside of that? Well, I want you to meet Nettie. Nettie, the love of my life, my jewel. Nettie, the woman of my heart. I can’t say enough about her. She’s my everything. I love you, Nettie, and I know Yvette Edery will get us out there. She’s gonna make us live, and then, the whole world will see how much I LOVE YOU.
Between you and me, Nettie had a hard life. She’s smart. She’s fierce.
I believe in Yvette Edery. I know she can make this picture. All she needs is a little bit of support from everybody. You know darn well you can help. Do it for me, Harold. It will be an early Christmas present. You won’t be sorry.
I know she’s going to have some totally outstanding rewards for you. You can come on set if you have to. Just don’t interrupt the production. You’ll have to whisper. We all have to.
Thanks for your contribution,
What is Harold and Nettie? Harold and Nettie is an independent, live action, feature film, a period drama. It is a story of love and redemption. Very romantic, very nostalgic, very very.
A woman, Selma Mably, who is a complete contradiction, walks into a world of contradiction. Selma Mably, a recent jail break, rides into town with nothing but her overalls, joy, and a smile. Selma meets her man, Candy. It’s a beautiful story that runs along the old blind couple, Harold and Nettie.

Also, watch these:
The Rewards: What can I expect if I donate? DVDs of past puppet films, credit on IMDB, There are a lot of reasons to give, please check it out to the right- we want to make the film and we want you to be part of its making!!!
What if I want more than one reward? Awesome! Simply add the totals together (plus p&p) and we will email you at the end of the campaign to clarify which rewards you require.
What if I don’t want the incentive, I just want to support? Bless you for just wanting to help! No, problem, Kickstarter has thought of everything and there is that option too!
Other Important Questions: What happens if you don’t reach your target? Well, if we don't reach the goal, then none of the money is collected, which is why I'm/we're hoping you will make even small donations, which really do add up, and tell your friends who would love to see this type of movie, they can be producers! What would be better than that?
Can you exceed the goal? Kickstarter allows projects to go over their targets. If we do go over our target, every penny will still go into making the project, and into making it an even better project, higher production value, better costumes, more lights, higher sound quality, and more. And I'd probably cry. If you want tears of relief, love, passion, and excitement, just get me over the goal. I'm for real on this.
Is my pledge amount publicly displayed? No. But we're considering multiple outlets for funding and if you would like your small business or large business for that matter, promoted through the film, there are lots of opportunities for product placement, naming locations after your business or school, and we are accepting volunteers for the filmmaking, so please contact via email if any of the above interests you! It interests us! We're personable, approachable, happy, adventurous, and cute: just see here:
Can I increase my pledge afterwards? Again, Kickstarter has thought of everything! To do so, go to Kickstarter and sign in. If you go to our campaign page, the green “Back This Project” button has been replaced with a blue “Manage Your Donation” button. Click it and you can enter a new amount, or choose a new incentive. I’m pretty sure Harold will kiss you. Ok, he’s looking at me and shaking his finger, maybe not. Maybe I’ll have to kiss you. Ok, a kiss from Yvette, but it will have to happen virtually by email, you have to be ok with that.
Can I gift a Reward? Sure, it will all make a great gift!
What is the money going to be used for? Needless to say, it is an art form that requires a lot of people and regardless if they donate their time, they have to eat, get to set, make calls, do everything they need to do while not filmmaking, just add cameras, lights, sound, costumes, actors, and everything else with making a film, like studios and locations, on top of that, and you understand where the money goes. That said, every dollar more goes into the above, cameras, lights, sound, action!
This money really goes to the making of the film? Every penny (minus the fees for Kickstarter’s involvement) will go directly into Harold and Nettie’s budget and you can be assured that it will be well used, stretched, and appreciated. It takes a lot of money to even make a film, it can take tremendous amounts to make a feature. You can give with an open heart and breathe easy!
I'm in Australia. Can I still pledge? Yes. You can pledge from anywhere in the world. All you need is a debit or credit card. How do we contact you? Through firstname.lastname@example.org If you have any questions or suggestions for rewards that you would like, please just send us an email. You will hear from us shortly.
Because the project has met the goal (within the first week), you do not have to risk the contribution that you make not making it to the project. All contributions here on out will go to the project! The more that is contributed, the more cameras we can rent, costumes we can have made, lights we can rent, sets we can build, art we can make, musicians we can hire, artists we can have on set, readings we can have to prepare, and if we really hit a high mark, we can begin to plan for the distribution phase, festival planning, marketing, advertising, and ensuring as many people as possible can be touched by this very authentic, romantic, happy love story.
Risks and challenges
Risks and Challenges involved: It is fair to say, since unlike most other projects you will see or hear of, since I have already invested ten years in the making of this film, that the risks are particularly lessened. I have a registered screenplay I wrote myself, I am in charge of most of the production elements, including design, and with a Masters in Production from NYU, where I taught in the film school for 5 years after graduating, and making films which were successful in hundreds of film festivals and made part of the permanent collections of major museums internationally, that I have a lot covered here. If I do have any setbacks, I will handle them as I have in the past, by working hard, staying up all night, eating nutritional yeast from the jar and drinking tap water from the sink, whatever I need to do, because I LOVE TO COCREATE. If I can raise 20,000 dollars I can make whatever film I want to. Mostly because many people in Hollywood need that much to groom themselves alone. I live like a hobbit. Help me make my movie. :-)Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
