The new trailer did not give me much confidence at all. The character models still look terrible, nothing like the originals and very plastic. The animations need a ton of work and have me very worried as a proper animation is essential to a fun combat system. I really hope you turn this around as right now it's looking like another kickstarter disaster.

    2. Prity on August 21

Disclamer for those who dont know: problem is guys... The facial is mostly from an mid shot or even close up (camera shot) so you see more detail than background, also the facial polygon work and detail is lots of more work than others. Please keep in mind. Thank you ///

Has anyone seen the Shenmue 3 teaser? https://youtu.be/UweI4Ra2QbM.. I think the environment looks great and the colors look vibrant. The character models look a little stiff though. Mostly, I think Ryu's head isn't propionate to his body. What do you guys think?

      @Luis
Now that you mention it yeah that logo from the June update is way better.

    5. Luis Bonilla on August 20

Please use the logo you said you would use in the June 2017 update. I don't know why it was changed again in August for the Deep Silver publishing announcement. I hope this was not their doing.

First the game gets delayed, now they need a publisher/ money. This doesnt sound good at all.

There's plenty to like about Deep Silver, sure, but I'm confused and a bit disappointed by this direction. I would prefer that kickstarted projects remain independent. After a successful kickstart like this there should be no problems in getting traditional funding to support the rest of development, and a sizeable indie launch.

When I saw an article saying the game had a publisher, I immediately hoped it was Sega (for old times sake) But they've probably lost enough money on Shenmue already ahah.

I'm sure Deep Silver (and of course YS Net) will do a good job, and I Can't wait to play Shenmue 3 :D

    10. Adam on August 18

Good news about Deep Silver as they have published Persona 5, I think a Yakuza game? and Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse and they have turned out to be a success! Hopefully this will be the same with Shenmue III.

I like the new models of Ryo and Shenhua, they look good but I feel Shenhua looks a bit lifeless? and I think Ryo just needs just a tad more darker jacket and more colour in his skin but other then that they look good! If Ryo looked that one that Modi posted I would be happy with that. That is Ryo to me. It was all to be expected to be honest.

I feel they will look different in video anyway and those environments look beautiful! Stunning visuals there. I seriously can't wait for Shenmue 3 and so looking forward to gamescom next week!

    11. ShenmueFan on August 18

I don't know how much involvement they will have but i have been let down by deep sliver when they brought out a broken unfinished mess know as homefront the revolution. Also they were involved in mighty number 9. Just hope they're more persona 5 involved than homefront the revolution involved.

The character models look really bad. Please fix their faces. This is really important. You should be trying to make them look similar to how they were in the original games. They look terrible right now.

    13. Ed D. on August 17

Isn't deep silver the same group involved in mocking and making fun of anime fans? They have a spotty track record at best. Why isn't sega publishing this?

I'm torn about this news, happy that more people get to get a copy, but don't want to be treated like 2nd class citizens (like I was for Yooka-Laylee and MN9 getting my physical copy weeks/months later than retail) considering I like everyone else helped pay for development.

I know other devs are making sure backers are getting treated well and I expect at least that much from YsNet and Deep Silver. Let's hope you don't forget the fans who made this happen.

    15. Lee Donagh on August 17

Love me some Shenmue news! In good company with Persona 5 & Yakuza.

    16. Aaron Healy on August 17

Awesome news! Can't wait till Gamescom! Only the thing I could say is that Shenhua's character model looks a little off, but Ryo and environmental shots look amazing. Keep up the great work, Yu and team.

    17. Modi on August 17

They need to fix the colors .. like this fan made

    19. Spindash54 on August 17

Not happy about Deep Silver at all. They don't know their audience. Look what happened with Mighty No. 9. Don't embarrass us...

    20. Husson Eagle on August 17

Deep Silver has a pretty good track record. Let's just hope Yu Suzuki is on track to making Shenmue 3 a masterpiece. The images on Ryu and Shenhua need some work. They dont look as good as the original.

    21. Davis Bailey on August 17

Deep Silver really doesn't have the best track record with fans, I do hope the deal doesn't give them too much power. Still it was eventual that you'd need a publisher.

    22. Pass_the_M on August 17

Guys, DeepSilver is just helping with publishing. They published Persona 5 in Europe (still not sure why Sega didn't do that themselves) and it turned out fine. They aren't developing anything. Also Sony was not involved in anything accept the initial announcement and providing normal 3rd party support.

    24. Vyse Legendaire on August 17

I don't know what to think. I hope this doesn't mean the game will become abandonware. In other news the logo in the press release looks wildly different from before, what happened

The scenery looks beautiful, fantastic job! The Ryo and Shenhua character models are looking great but need a little more work. The likeness isn't quite there yet and that's the first thing everyone notices. Great job though guys! I'm getting more and more excited with every update!

I'm impressed by the environments! What a beautiful scenery! Ryo looks way better than the E3 2015 model but he needs some tweaks. Shenhua doesn't look like Shenhua at all.

Looking fordward to see some trailers at Gamescom!

Great news, Deep Silver are a fine publisher.. look at Persona 5! They sent my concern, however the odd "Yakuza Style" font for the logo is a concern as we had been assured that the original Logo was to be used & the character models still look a little off. Use the FMV models shown in Shenmue 1 Passport as a reference point & then they'll look correct.

    29. James Bailey on August 17

I'm excited! Need to go back and play 1&2 again, so pumped!!!

    30. THE PROPHET WUDE on August 17

Deep Silver has a questionable track record, but let's hope for the best.

Regarding the new plastic Ryo and Shenhua models, please correct them closer to the original CG models.

Also, revert to the original Shenmue logo.

The environments are looking better, though.

Great News!!! The Dead Island Guys!!! (oh...and Persona). Glad to see EA and Ubisoft away from this project!!!!!

    32. Vito "Vitoner" Lanci on August 17

About the press release image of Ryo and Shenhua- I don't think the models are all that bad (could be better, Shenhua looks a bit too old), I think the crappy lighting and photoshop work make them look much worse than they actually are. With all the hype surrounding this game, you really shouldn't rush this promo material, take your time and make it good.
A LOT of the fanbase is freaking out. Please release some actual in-game screenshots to calm their tits asap before they turn on you.

I smell another Mighty No. 9 coming up...

      Seriously though.
      Deep f*ing Silver?!?! What the...
Do you have ANY knowledge of the game industry?! How on earth could you partner with a company with a proven track record of producing garbage?! Good luck trying to get support for something high quality out of those greedy Koch people.
I have barely been paying attention to this project ever since I realized how slowly it progresses but now I'm unsubscribing. I don't want to hear about this again until I see the predictable 4/10 reviews everywhere.
