Keiji Okayasu Returns for Shenmue III

Hello Everyone,

Taking a look at end credits of Shenmue you may noticed this man’s name—Keiji Okayasu. He was the Game Director for Shenmue I, then played a big role through most of Shenmue II, and has now joined the production team for Shenmue III. We are very happy to have back this Shenmue veteran who helped deliver the goods the first time around, and look forward to him doing it again.

So, this month we would like to give an interview with Keiji to get to know a little bit more about him, and see what he hopes to accomplish as a director for Shenmue III.

I have greater faith that more of what made Shenmue will be incorporated in the feel and not just a nostalgia likeness.

Even if this still looked like it was a Dreamcast game, but just continued the story, I would buy it three times over regardless.

I think shenmue is a game that made changes in video games. Have you seen Naughty Dog games ? Uncharted 4 is a clone shenmue

Awesome!! I'm happy to know that the masterminds behind the first two games are behind the third one. I do not know how to game itself will do, I just know that I'll love it and treasure the opportunity to continue this amazing story.

I was impressed to discover that this guy has been working with Shenmue all the way back, when it was still Virtua Fighter RPG for the Saturn.

This is another of those things that indicate Shenume 3 is being made with all the possible care and consideration for long time fans.

Could you add some simple dev progress estimates/project status/roadmap for the development on the webpage? I.e. rough percentage estimates (up to completion) on e.g. story/dialogue/world building/assets/character designs/sound/overall dev/localization etc.

Could be inspired by e.g. this:
