This was very unprofessional. The interviewer was seriously misbehaving and did not prepare his questions in advance. On top of this, the quality of the video was very poor no and not tested before going live. Had this not been Shenmue, I would have withdrawn my pledge. The video should be removed and Awesome Japan needs to massively improve their efforts if they take their own future serious.

Yu-San was very patient in this stream, I have total faith in the Shenmue team who will produce and actually make the game. Kickstarter is a viable way to get the game made, and I'm very happy to help to get the game funded.

I own a VW. In the past I've tried to save money by having the car serviced at a non-specialist garage. I ended up wasting my time and my money using the non-specialist garage.

I now take my car to a VW garage, although it's more expensive I'm very satisfied with the service.

What has the above comment got to do with Shenmue III?

In my analogy, Yu-San's team are the actual product (the car), Sony and Kickstarter are like the dealership and 'Awesome Japan' are the garage who service and maintain the car after it leaves the dealership.

If I owned a Ferarri I would not take it to Halfords to get the engine tuned.

I've been very satisfied with the games where Yu-San has been involved. I consider Ferrari F355 Challenge to have the greatest driving feeling that was released for Arcade. I was so impressed with Ferrari F355 that I eventually bought the smaller single screen AC cabinet.

No disrespect is intended towards the Awesome Japan team, you guys have not changed my decision to fund the game. But you need to understand that dealing with a franchise like Shenmue requires some professionalism, 15 years ago you would have had no chance of even getting near Yu-San when he was working at Sega.

All I ask is that you please show Yu-San some respect.

      Thank you.

Come on guys , let forgive "the guy in red". Can you just imagine how he must feel now with his behaviour ?
He will come back with some apologies and with a 10.000$ pledge , who knows ??

I don't trust that guy in red! I don't believe him to be a true fan! I don't want him anywhere near this project's money!

    8. Raiiban on

Just letting you know that after this seeing stream I'm going to remove my pledge. That was awful and left me with little faith that you have the capacity to create this game. Don't worry, this wasn't my only factor, the $10 million needed for a real game, the initial lack of openness, and just the arrogance to think you could raise so much for a niche title. Shenmue 3 is something I still want made really badly, but do it right or not at all. This is a gamble right now, and the odds are stacked too high against it.

    9. romeoteknik on

The guy in red was unprofessional, should be fired.

    10. Ari Tomi Stenberg on

I bet guy in red shirt and Snoop dog know each other in real live!! Get BETTER PR guy! Dont deal junkies here! If he is not interesting Shenmue 3 why the hell invited him on interview?!? Next time i hope they used sober guy and not a total Clown!!

    11. Zzhh on

Good video. Liked all the features Suzuki san has in mind, he was well prepared and professional. About the guy in red, he act like a Shenmue fan more than a business man... but no problem. Liked the can intro... Thanks for the stream!

    12. Tony Q. on

@ YuriAddict : you should watch the video because even if the guy in red was... special and was (or played, in order to appear natural, which is really a bad idea) unprepared, Suzuki-san answers let see that in his mind Shenmue III is already planned. And he seems to have great ideas for the game. So we should all up our pledges I think.
That said, Awesome Japan if you read this, please do your best to be or appear more professionnal the next time. The best moment was when Yu Suzuki decided about what to speak about. I'm sure you can and will do better guys! Magic Maze Power!

    15. Andrea Collier on

The video was alright. It's just the audio that was a pain.. they should have brought the mic closer to whomever was speaking.

    16. YuriAddict on

I couldn't watch the stream live because of the time difference so today i thought id check it out... what an absolute embarrassment for Yu Suzuki i couldn't stand watching it for more than 15 mins.

Does it actually take such a low level to get into the Kickstarter business? After this stream I am baffled why Mr.Suzuki hired Awesome Japan. The video and sound quality was terrible. The red shirt guy was annoying, his "ok,ok,ok" is forever burnt into my mind. I wish this was managed by Mr. Suzuki's company, by people who are actually working on it, not by a third-party company that does not seem to give a hoot about it.

      Ajay on

The video was painful to watch.. why was the host acting so childishly? He was also completely unprepared and had to think of questions on the spot.. which he tried to initiate with key words...

    19. Missing avatar

      Draikin on

I had to stop watching the stream ten minutes in. Is some degree of professionalism too much to ask? This really makes me question the management surrounding Yu Suzuki here.

A video very beneath Shenmue... Suzuki-san, please don't think all of us fans are this retarded. Contrary to what it transpired, a lot of us got poise, intelligence and actual sense of humor.

THE QUESTION I REALLY WANTED TO SEE ANSWERED: Suzuki-san, Shenmue 1 and 2 each cost several millions (64 Million= 48 Million adjusted to inflation) to make 14 years ago. With only 5M (optimistic view), how can we expect this game to measure up?

come on ppl dont judge them from what they are or what they look.
to me, i judge them for what they can do in the game, becouse they can be good programers

Seriously guys this red shirt guy is the worst show-speaker ever!
It completely deserves the interview and its slow speed makes it very difficult to watch entirely.
This low quality realization is not what we want for Shenmue!

    28. Jose Luis Tur on

Seriously, I don't know who was that guy on the right, but looked like a 13 year old on drugs and he alone made the whole video look like a joke. Too bad, because it was an interesting video and he made it extremely hard to watch.

If we get the character perspective system would mean great replay value. All the 4.0 to 5m rewards look great

    30. Ivan Chu on

The character perspective system sounds great!! Play from Shenhua & Ren's perspectives. Hope we'll reach that goal at least.

All the other mini-game additions are still kind of unnecessary though. I'd rather they add more character perspectives to the other villages/towns as well.

video of Twitch some stuff could have been done with Suzuki just answering questions. Ur right the guy does seem high.

    32. Missing avatar

      Kenneth Williams on

Freaking pathetic. Turns out being fluent in Japanese did not matter since the audio was so low as to not be heard, some guy in a red shirt was high as hell, and then it ended. Not impressed with how this Kickstarter is being run, if it was not Shenmue III it would have tanked.

Open up Paypal as a payment option, set more realistic stretch goals because no one is going to hit 10 million. Fire the amateurs who set the stream up and are running this so far. Save updates for ACTUAL IMPORTANT INFORMATION.

      Tsoek Cheung on

Agree with the comments about the poorly executed chat on Twitch. Problem is not just the stream. Communications and feedbacks from the PR should take place with the fans in here.

This is still too one sided.

    34. Alexander Munoz on

That was a horrible job done by Awesome Japan. They should be fired immediately.

      Technical issues.
Poor attitude. Guy in the red shirt looked like he was on drugs.
Translator didn't take notes while listening.
Questions unprepared and because of that stream ended early.

Just horrible. I'm ashamed by association that these people are handling this project.
So awkward the whole thing. We got some decent info out of it but nothing that couldn't have been done in a simple pre-recorded interview.

If you guys loved some of Segas games from the 80s such as Outrun and Afterburner, and others like it like Street Fighter II there is a new Kickstarter that you may be interested in! > https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/124468523/uncle-art-a-temporal-shift

I don't normally leave a comment to complain, but this stream was disappointing. The production was poor (very low audio level and video) and the host didn't seem prepared for this and did in fact appear "high". I know he's trying, but this was hard to watch.
