About this project
I am currently creating a body of work about what is real versus what is perceived. A couple years ago, I shot a still life of a doll and found it quite ironic that the doll was not alive and yet almost a perfect resemblance of life. Many of my peers who saw the images thought they were people, and since the dolls have mostly blank expressions, it varies on what each person sees and feels when they see the images. This is a unique piece of work due to the fact that it has continued to evolve. In the past year, I have added images of people as well as a textual element. I am now in the process of finalizing the last couple shoots, then I will need to start printing and mounting/framing the work. I will also need to secure a gallery space and all the extras to run my own show. There are about 45 pieces in total, and each piece is 24x36in. The minimum funding I have requested will allow me to have a small showing with only about 20 pieces of completed work. To have a show with everything hanging I'd need about $27,000. I would love to be able to have a full showing, but even half would be a dream. What your support will cover: Printing/Mounting Self-Advertising (business cards and postcards) Books of the entire show Rental of the space for up to a month And more!!
