The YRG-Pro is a MIDI guitar for the 21st century guitar player. It provides connectivity to a variety of music creation and recording tools. Using standard MIDI protocol, the YRG-Pro is compatible with any MIDI hardware or software platform.
Historically there are three basic MIDI guitar designs: segmented frets, pitch detection and buttons. Each has its own limitations that have frustrated the MIDI guitar market for decades. Our solution takes advantage of the low latency button and segmented fret systems, while eliminating the play-ability and mechanical difficulties of those designs.
Based on our proven technology, the YRG-Pro is designed with studio and performing musicians in mind. The instrument is a full size wooden guitar providing the comfort and feel of your standard electric guitar.
The YRG-Pro is a composition and performance instrument for guitar players that gives access to sounds and tools that keyboard players have had for the past 30 years. The YRG-Pro is a tool that will expand your capabilities.

*The poster below illustrates the evolution of the YRG*
The G-stick (top left) was the very first YRG prototype; designed to harness the power of a MIDI keyboard in the body of a guitar without sacrificing the feel that most other low latency MIDI guitars lacked.
Three years of R&D turned the G-Stick into the YRG-1000 (top right), the first commercially available YRG. Intended for both beginner and professional level consumers, the YRG made its way into the homes and studios of a variety of consumers. We've received an overwhelming amount of feedback from studio guitarists thanking us for creating something they had been seeking for many years.
Following a year and a half of Gen1 production, the YRG-1000 <Gen2> and Limited Edition were born (bottom left). Improvements on both the firmware and hardware transformed the YRG-1000 into a more accurate and reliable MIDI instrument. All the YRG-1000 sounds were replaced with higher quality sounds recorded and produced by a professional audio house. The Limited Edition provided early access to the Gen2 as well as exclusive accessories and sounds. Only 500 LE’s were assembled and a select few of them are available as our rewards.
All previous models have brought the YRG line to where it stands today. We are now ready to bring our reliable, accurate technology to a professional level. Pairing the reliability and accuracy of the Gen2 hardware with our most powerful new firmware makes the YRG-Pro the ultimate studio MIDI guitar (bottom right).
$100,000 - We will publish an SDK which will allow communication with applications over MIDI transport.
$125,000 - We will add an extra guitar color to choose from. The color will be voted on by supporters.
The plan is to use the $80,000 to finish the development on the YRG-Pro. For us that means buying the remaining tooling, completing the software features and GUI, as well as placing an initial PO to begin production.
Our company is a young company through and through. Our staff is comprised of exceptional young people who are musicians and music enthusiasts. Together we represent a variety of experience and education. Led by inventor, founder, and president Cliff Elion we have been striving to make the power of music creation available to everyone.
Cliff is an industry veteran and has worked with such companies as Linn Electronics, Gibson Guitars, Seymour Duncan, Microsoft, and other notables. The YRG-1000, Cliff's original brainchild, was driven by his desire to find a solution for guitarists who lacked access to reliable and affordable MIDI guitars.
Inspired Instruments makes the You Rock Guitar and a line of music related products and accessories. In business since 2009, it began manufacturing and selling it’s products in mid 2010 from its Southern California office. Since then we have grown our sales and awareness substantially. We have been recognized by top publications, musicians, and consumers as not only producing a viable MIDI guitar, but also one of the most powerful MIDI guitars on the market. Our devotion to customer support, quality, and cost efficiency has earned us our niche amongst the giants in the music industry. Our goal is to continue providing a powerful, affordable, and satisfying product, eventually expanding our technology to a platform, thus enabling music creation at any level of experience.
Dan Mumm, a very talented guitar player, is now one of our good friends. He came to us with many questions about the YRG. Once he got his hands on one he realized its full potential. In the following videos Dan expresses his own opinions about our technology as he demonstrates some of the features of the YRG that will be available in the YRG-Pro. (In both videos below Dan is using the YRG-1000)
