We create affordable one of a kind wearable artwork, made entirely from up-cycled clothing.
YouphoriClothing (pronounced euphoric clothing) creates new, handmade items using recycled clothing. The amount of clothing waste in the world today is getting out of hand. We want to provide unique items that express the individual, while also having a positive impact on the environment. When we first began making up-cycled clothing, We knew that we were doing a positive thing by reducing waste. The more we explored the topic, the more we realized the extent of the amount of wasted clothing and textiles in the world today. If you aren't familiar with the extreme levels of clothing waste and build up around our planet, here are a few links to people who put it into perspective:
We want our clothing to be clothing that is flattering and something you will love forever, rather than trendy clothing you wear once a year and then replace. All of our clothing is made by hand in our apartment. We currently use our old, hand-me-down sewing machines, as well as a serger that Santa brought for Christmas :)
We began last summer with a few handmade items, and a lot of interest. However, we did not have enough merchandise or the funds to be an official clothing vendor at any festivals or markets.
This summer will be different. Instead of selling our creations off of a blanket in
our campsite, we are already registered to vend at three festivals, and
are awaiting acceptance from two more. This is very exciting for us! However, this is where we need YOUR support: we need to finish our
complete collection before the summer vending season begins!
Your support will help us out immensely. We plan to use the money earned on a variety of the following items:
Thread; Clothing to recycle (purchased from second hand stores and
people like you!); fabric dyes; Hoop tubing and tape (tubing can cost as much as $150 a roll, and tape as much as $35 a roll!); Battery operated lanterns for late night shoppers; Tent walls- this will protect our merchandise from undesirable weather and potential theft; Screen printing supplies (This one is HUGE! This will allow us to print our hand drawn designs, revamping plain fabrics); Printing flyers and business cards to promote our project; Repairing sewing machines/purchasing new ones, Amazon and kickstarter fees (between $160 and $200, and more if we exceed our goal!) As well as any other general expenses as they come along!
We have great rewards available, including a video of our summer vending season, handmade clothing items, or even a ticket to one of the music festivals we will be vending at!

*Please note! Our rewards all say they will be delivered by September of this year. This is due to the end of the summer video! As soon as we reach our goal, we will begin to make and ship out rewards. Aside from the video, we don't intend for anything to take until September.*
We know the value of self expression on a budget, and it is our goal to make this possible for anyone interested. We ask for your help to Kick-start YouphoriClothing into something we could only dream of. Thank you so much for spending your time look at our project, and we hope to meet many of you this summer at our vending booth!
To make a short story long, Ashleigh is currently working two full time jobs, in addition to Youphoriclothing. Ariel has one full time job, and one part time job in addition to making all of the clothing for youphoriclothing. Mary is currently a full time student, and also working while making most all of our hula hoops we provide. Needless to say, we are busy people. In the past month we have also put on our fashion show/launch party, and vended our first two festivals of the summer... in a row! So, without further ado, here is our reward "video"!
this is a photo of two of my roommates and I (Ariel, in the middle). Both me and my one roommate have on necklaces that will be comparable to the ones for this kickstarter. We have not come up with a shape yet, but this is the same idea. I am also sporting one of our chilla tops, which is included in the $150 women's reward level! They are made entirely from recycled t-shirt material, even the straps! The reward version will have a one of a kind hand painted design.
Our scarf/bandana reward will both be made from recycled t-shirts. Unfortunately I do not have a photo of either of these items but they are fairly self explanatory. Each one will also be one of a kind.
Our t-shirts will be recycled t's we get from a second hand store in the size you request. Then we will hand dye them in the color of your choice, and finish them off by hand screen printing "I am youphoric" on the chest. These will all be one of a kind, and kickstarter exclusive.
THIS is a hoodiepack! I am going to come up with some specialties to make our reward hoodiepack extra special.
Here is a photo of the mens shorts included in the mens package. They are all one size fits all and one of a kind.
If you have anymore questions free to send us a message and ask!
Ariel attended fashion school for two years at Mount Mary College in Milwaukee, WI. Frustrated with the restraints on her creativity, Ariel dropped out and began making clothing for herself out of her existing wardrobe and thrift store finds. When people began complimenting her unique sense of fashion, she began selling some of the outfits to friends and family. Ashleigh joined the project in December of 2011 to help with marketing and summer vending. Mary was brought on board in February 2012 for hula hoop production and networking.
