The really exciting news is that we've managed to secure one of the all-time greatest children's authors, Enid Blyton, on Yoto. And we're including one of her stories for free in the Yoto Starter Pack for all backers. The Enchanted Wood is the first part of The Faraway Tree trilogy - loved by children worldwide. And our full audiobook version... is read by Oscar-winning actress, Kate Winslet!
The Yoto Starter Pack of cards is designed to bring you a selection of content from across the Yoto library and should appeal to a broad range of children's ages.
We've divided content into seven categories, each with their own icon. There are: Stories, Music, Activities, Radio, Podcast, Sound Effects and Make Your Own (Beta). The Make Your Own feature is outlined below and was in this update.
Let's begin with stories (also includes The Enchanted Wood)...
A gorgeous story written and illustrated by one of our best known and loved children’s authors known for her family orientated stories about the very much loved but none-the-less entertaining Mog the Cat.
Mog’s peaceful day is shattered when a baby comes to visit. All Mog wants to do and sleep and play but there is no chance of that with a little baby around!
“Mog loves babies,” says Mrs Thomas but suddenly Mog isn’t quite so sure…
The Cat that Walked by Himself by Rudyard Kipling. Most domestic or farm animals have to earn their place by the fire.
Kipling's short story (from the Just So Stories) tells us why cats can drink milk from a bowl AND live a semi-wild life by themselves. It takes us back to the time when people lived in caves.
As always with Kipling (who also wrote the Jungle Books), the language is sonorous and wonderful.
"Mrs H is one of the hidden gems of London" Time out
A collective of professional musicians united by their passion of bringing quality music to children and their families, Mrs H Sings by Mrs H and the Singalong Band is wonderful compilation of songs for the whole family.
A perfect introduction to classical music for kids (and adults) of all ages. Da-da-da-DAAAAH, Da-da-da-DAAAAH: listen to track 7 and see if you recognise that music!
It's one of the most famous pieces of classical music ever written. There are some animals here, too - an elephant and a swan.
And right at the end, guess which boy wizard joins the party... Come and join it too!
