Hello Kickstarters! My name is Yoni Limor, and I founded Pencil Ink Academy based on the belief that education should be both engaging and entertaining. I am father to a 3-year-old son and a 6-month-old daughter, and I've recently been contemplating the future educational and political environment in which my children will live. I want my son to grow up knowing that he is surrounded by strong, educated, empowered women who deserve every right that he is afforded. I want my daughter to grow up never measuring herself by what she is not, but by what she IS. To celebrate her strengths, not focus on perceived shortcomings. The overarching reason I am venturing into the education world is to foster future generations, and to help create a society where knowledge is revered, not ridiculed. As a parent, it's the single most important thing we can do for our children. Knowledge is power. To that end, we are thrilled to present our newest project: "She Persisted: Influential Women in History"! This deck of flashcards features FIFTY of the most influential women in world history; royals and peasants, pioneers and philanthropists, artists and authors, leaders, suffragettes and (S)heroes of STEM who all shaped the world in which we live.
To bring these women's portraits to life, we have partnered with ten of the most talented female artists in comics and pop art: Tressa Bowling, Susan Curry, Diana Greenhalgh (Marvel, IDW), Serena Guerra ("The Mice Templar", Image Comics), Jessica Hickman (Disney, Lucasfilm, Marvel), Beth Hughes (Nick Jr., McGraw-Hill Education), Emma Kubert ("Willowbrook", The Kubert School), Janet Lee (Eisner winner "Return of the Dapper Men"), Comfort Love ("The Uniques"), and Alex Monik.
Why should you use flashcards to study? When you look at the front side of a flashcard and think of the answer, you are engaging a mental faculty known as active recall. In other words, you are attempting to remember the concept from scratch rather than simply staring at the passage in your textbook or recognizing it on a multiple choice quiz. Active recall has been proven to create stronger neuron connections for that memory trace. And because flashcards can so easily facilitate repetition, they are the best way to create multiple memory-enhancing recall events.
We are also offering The Philanthropy Package. This reward tier is for the person or organization that wants to ensure this project advances education by getting instantly fully funded. And SUCH generous philanthropy NEVER goes unrewarded. This tier includes TEN (10) Classroom Packs to give to schools of your choice!
I want to say thank you to everyone who may decide to pledge to this Kickstarter campaign. This has been a real passion project of mine for almost 2 years, and should the campaign be successful, I look forward to hearing how the cards are received in the education landscape. Every pledge, like, and share will be incredibly important if this campaign is to succeed. Tell your friends. Tell your coworkers. Donate a Classroom pack to your child or grandchild's school, or to your own alma mater. This campaign won't succeed without your help, so in advance I just want to say thank you!

WHEN WILL YOU RECEIVE YOUR REWARDS?
We are working with the same sketch card broker from the American Presidents campaign to facilitate the printing/packaging process as soon as the Kickstarter ends. Once we receive the decks, prints, coloring books, posters, and classroom pack materials, we have a small team dedicated to swift reward fulfillment. Our proposed timeline from the end of the Kickstarter on 4/01/19 to the delivery of rewards is around three months. Our goal is to have all rewards out for delivery by the end of July to ensure delivery in time for the start of the new school year.
Risks and challenges
The risks for this campaign are relatively minimal. The remaining artwork for the cards will be completed within 2-3 weeks from the end of the Kickstarter and vendors are already in place for the printing of the cards, prints, and posters. The main risk would be a delay in the shipping, which we will do our hardest to avoid. We are dedicated to getting these cards into teachers’ hands with plenty of time to plan lessons for the 2019-2020 school year!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
