Greetings yodelling fans! Here's a little about me, my yodelling achievements and why I am going to record this album. I hope you will be tempted to join me on this fun journey.
Having taught myself to yodel from the age of 10 I was a closet yodeller for many years then 'came out' in 2007 :) and have since been taken on a fabulous yodelling journey and I'm now yodelling professionally.
I have had the pleasure of yodelling on TV. You may have seen one of my performances on the British comedy talk-show Room 101, ITV, Breakfast TV, Come Dine With Me or one of my favourite experiences on Channel 4's Sunday Brunch with Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer, pictured below, with their guests Paloma Faith, Frank Skinner, Sarah Hadland and Jon Richardson all having fun with a yodel tutorial. Another of my favourites and most bizarred yodelling gig was just recently on Strictly Come Dancing teaching Faye and Giovanni to yodel whilst herding sheep - a huge giggle :)
I was also very fortunate to be the stand by performer on the 2017 pilot series of the TV show The Generation Game with Mel Geidroyc and Sue Perkins. I was asked by the BBC upon recommendation by Mel Geidroyc after I had done a private party for her. I felt very priviliged.
You may have heard me on one of my many radio station appearances including my attempt to teach Geoff Lloyd and Annabel Port to Yodel on Absolute Radio which was a real hoot. The audio link is below (the yodelling bit starts at about 10:40):
or more recently on Simon Mayo's Drive Time teaching Simon, Bobby and Matt to yodel also:
Plus I also had a wonderful review from Tom Robinson on BBC Radio 6 - 4th paragraph down
With your thoughtful support, my new yodelling album will be used as my calling card for the many corporate events I perform at here in the UK and overseas. These events include corporate team building workshops and yodelling workshops, Oktoberfests and at music festivals which provide lots of family fun as you can see below. These lovely people are all in mid yodel!
I also have the pleasure of performing at many private gigs, parties and on many occasions with the wonderful International Ukulele Club of Sonning Common and I'm very proud and excited to announce they will be playing on the album and twice I've had the honour of dueting 'In the jailhouse Now' with Joe Brown MBE
Here I am at Cornbury Festival https://youtu.be/3CaAi3BGv6Q in front of 5000 people whilst being accompanied by the marvellous Sam Brown and her International Ukulele Club of Sonning Common http://www.thefabulousukuleleclub.com/ on the same billing as Elvis Costello, Macy Gray, James Morrison and Will Young to name but a few http://www.cornburyfestival.com/line-up/line-up-2012/ and then much to my surprise, the song was chosen to go onto the album for that year alongside a song selected from every artist that played that weekend including Alison Moyet and Hugh Laurie and the Copper Bottom Band - Track 7
A question I always get asked without fail is "when are you going to record a yodelling album?"
I have finally decided to take the bull by the horns and record an album with many traditional Alpine yodelling songs, Oktoberfest songs adapted for yodelling, Hocus Pocus by Focus and of course the song that I am known for - Frank Ifield's 'Taught me to Yodel' plus a few of my originals songs including A yodelling Christmas Song
Both a lack of time and financial constraints have contributed to my procrastination. The time is right for me now, and with your financial assistance I can make it happen. I will keep all of you up to date through this journey with pictures, audio excerpts and of course rewards for your help.
I have already recorded a couple of tracks including with the International Ukulele Club of Sonning Common and my son George Campbell and have had professional backing tracks prepared for further recording plus I now have all the artwork for the album.
With your generous support, I can show all of you and the rest of the world what I'm actually capable of when it comes to yodelling. Most of you have only ever heard me sing 'Taught me to Yodel' so this will be an eye opener, not only for me, but hopefully for you too :).
How will your money be used? It'll be going towards:
To finish off recording the album, mixing and mastering by Pete Brown at http://www.henwoodstudios.com, CD production & digital distribution Copyright registrations and cover song licensing UPC Purchase
Please share this with your family and friends around the world, providing an opportunity to be involved in a project that means a lot to me. After so many years, creating this album would be a dream come true.
Thank you for reading this far and I hope you will join me in Kickstarting this fun yodelling album. If you would like to know more about me please visit my website www.yodellynne.co.uk or join me on facebook.com/yodellynne
For a bit of fun here's an example of the album artwork as created by Clinton Morgan who in my opinion is the best illustrator for me because he captures the essence of my character in almost every way :). I love my caricature!
Risks and challenges
There are of course always challenges/risks that I could encounter i.e. losing my voice through a cold, technical hitches etc., 3rd party delays for the pressing and packaging but it's very unlikely and if it did, it wouldn't halt the project for too long. I don't foresee any major risks but have tried to put in realistic delivery dates for everything to allow for any slight hiccups that might occur!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
