People have been asking us for a way to put their camera inside their YNOT bag. Others have asked us for a complete camera bag. We've found a solution for both - The Stowaway. Lightweight and compact, it's designed to fit inside any suitable bag.
Along with the Stowaway, we're introducing our camera strap, the Backlash. A strap that attaches easily and can adjust in a flash. The comfortable neoprene pad feels smooth on you neck and with its quick adjustment system, you can easily loosen the strap to take a photo, then just as quickly tighten it back up to a comfortable carrying position. The Backlash also works as a shoulder strap on the Stowaway, converting it instantly into a fully independent camera bag. With extra Backslash Accessory Straps, you can easily move the shoulder pad between your camera and your bag, or even a secondary camera. The accessory straps clip together, so you can use it as a shorter camera strap or handle even without the pad.
We've been designing bags for bicycle couriers for 5 years now, so we're experts on how to make tough gear that keeps the water out. The Stowaway is constructed with 1000D Cordura, a heavy duty nylon fabric milled right here in North America. We also use the same waterproof ripstop liner that is in all our backpacks. The Stowaway's flap closes tightly, leaving no easy path for water to get in and can be flipped back when you want to have quick access to your camera within your bag. The flap has a great oversized zipper pocket, useful for storing a charger or SD cards. The Stowaway is available in 3 sizes to accommodate a wide variety of cameras and lenses. Also included are padded velcro dividers to create customizable compartments inside the Stowaway. Additionally, because we make everything in-house you can choose custom colour options like you can with many other YNOT products.
We asked buyers at major camera stores in Canada if they have ever heard of a Made in Canada camera bag, and they couldn't name one, so we're proud to be (as far as we can tell) the only Canadian made camera bag out there! We make them all right here in our Toronto studio.
We've only shown our new line to a couple of stores, and already it's clear that we'll need your help to ensure we can meet the demand. Your backing will allow us to invest in materials and equipment to increase our capacity and deliver quality Canadian Made bags and accessories to photographers and adventure seekers worldwide!
We have provided a bunch of great rewards for backers at any level.

Designing a bag can be a long process. It starts with a sketch. Next we design a pattern on the computer, and transfer it to paper with a plotter. Then we're ready to make a prototype. From there we go back to the pattern as many times as needed to make the perfect prototype.
This simple sketch guided us to an early prototype, shown on the right:
Later, we modified the design for less rollover, and we added the horizontal stitch lines which give the bag greater rigidity. The stitch lines also lock in the liner making it easier to move & remove the internal dividers.
Not only do we design our products - we make them all in house as well. All cutting and sewing happens in our Toronto studio. This allow us to move quickly from concept to full production.

Gallant Bicycles is YNOT Cycle's sister company and is owned and operated by Jason Wood and myself (Tony Mammoliti). We designed these bikes and do all the painting (powder coating) and assembly in the same facility where we make all the YNOT Cycle products. Every bike is made to order, so you can design it to suit your personal taste.

Risks and challenges
YNOT Cycle is not just a design company. All of our products are cut & sewn in our Toronto studio. This helps us to mitigate many possible supply issues. However, we still rely on suppliers for our raw materials. The materials and components we use are normally stocked in large quantities, and most of the colours we offer are milled & dyed right here in Canada (some in the USA), so we generally don't have to worry about the types of long delays you may see with overseas suppliers.
Larger than expected demand could cause some delay. We expect this would be minimal. Our experience building large orders for international distributors as well as custom projects for businesses have taught us a lot about how to scale our production quickly, especially when producing a large volumes of the same product.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Established in 2009, founder Tony Mammoliti started experimenting and designing bike gear he felt was lacking in the cycling industry. Initially, a small garage studio was set up in the back alley of Toronto's iconic Croft Street. At local cycling events bike messengers and FGFS riders began getting their hands on YNOT products, and started putting them through their paces. Over time a die-hard DIY crew of like-minded designers were brought together, and the YNOT product line evolved and expanded.
YNOT headquarters are located in a warehouse in the Junction area of Toronto known for its industrious working class and manufacturing history. YNOT now ships to over 40 countries and many retailers. The amazing YNOT Cycle crew (link to crew page) continue to push the company forward, driven by a passion to create unique and functional cycling products for people that use and depend on them every day.
Every YNOT bag, pedal strap and accessory is handmade in Canada. From design to prototyping to manufacturing to sending them out the door, every stage of our production is done in-house, here in Toronto. We also do our best to source our materials locally when possible. Most of our fabric is milled in Canada or the United States, while much of our hardware is American-made just over the border.
The neck band section has a neoprene backing with a 1000D CORDURA® cover (available in multiple colours). The binding is soft to the touch for added comfort. The side release buckles are made in USA by Duraflex.
The insert is has an outer layer of 1000D CORDURA® North American Milled. The inside liner is made of 400D Diamond Ripstop Nylon, 100% urethane coated.
