In March I will be recording my 5th collection of original songs. The record will be tracked at Piety Studio in New Orleans. Cale Pellick, who produced my previous 2 CD's, will be overseeing the studio time and providing direction during the mixing of the tracks. Cale is a masterful musician who recently had one of his mixes pressed by the band, Linkin Park. The musicians on the record will be my good friends, Dr. Danny Acosta (guitar), Karl Langley (drums), and Josh Titford (upright bass).
It has been about 6 years since my critically-acclaimed, "Independence, Louisiana." I am very proud of that recording. This time I want to create more of a "live" sound - something that can be easily reproduced. While "Independence" was great, there were 20 musicians on the record, and to reproduce those arrangements with those players would be quite difficult. With a live jazz band my songs can still shine with great players playing as a group.
There will be around 10 songs. My songwriting is hitting a new stride - this is without a doubt, my best material on many different levels. I am still writing lyrics with meaning, but I've even further mastered how to cloak positive messages in catchy melodies and well thought out arrangements.
I am really looking forward to creating a good vibe with good friends. You can bet you will hear my smile in my voice.
