Pressed at last! Introducing "Tinder"

Friends, backers!

We've crossed the finish-line! We are so proud to introduce "TINDER" :

Almost exactly a year later than we'd anticipated our record  - "Tinder" - has finally  been completed and pressed. We'll be shipping it out to you with your other rewards as soon as possible! If your address has changed since our surveys went out, please let us know.

We are endlessly grateful to Nate Laffan for putting together our amazing album artwork! From the initial sketches and ideas to the final product, it was a quite a process! He created several different layers using watercolors and charcoal to make the intricate textures you'll see throughout the CD packaging:

Nate is an incredibly talented artist and graphic designer and you can check out more of his work here:

ALSO - We'll be seeing many of you TOMORROW - June 8th! - at the Spencer Bell Legacy show in Madison, Wisconsin at High Noon Saloon. I (Anna) will be playing a solo set and would LOVE to meet some of you face to face, please come say hi!

We'll be plotting an album release tour soon, so please keep in touch! You can find us, now as The Still Tide, here:

Mastered record + other big changes!

Friends!

We are so very excited to announce that our record has FINALLY been mastered! Definitely worth the wait, Josh Bonati (the busy and talented guy that he is) has delivered the goods. We are so pleased with how it turned out!

This little guy is on its way NOW to the pressing plant and - once our artwork has been finalized - our record can be pressed at last. It's hard to believe that it's been almost exactly a year (and what a year at that!) since we first stepped into the studio together. The efforts of which will be in your hands/ears so very soon!

____________

Our other BIG announcement is that, after much thought and great consideration, we've officially changed our band name. We will no longer be called Yet Cut Breath but are now THE STILL TIDE.

BUT have no fear! We are still the same group! With the same music! Just a different name!

Please come find us here:

thestilltide.bandcamp.com (coming soon!)

We are also starting to pull things together for a few record release shows! Can't wait to share these songs (and even some newer ones!) with y'all in person.

Much more to come! Thanks again for all of your support!

xx Anna

Mixing!

Backers! Friends!

At last - we've finally arrived at the final stages of our long journey in making this record. In fact, today is one of our last days of mixing! I am sitting - as I type - behind mixing wizard Tom Tierney as he dials in the sounds soon to reach your ears . . .

It's hard to believe that right now, from the vantage point of early December, that this adventure began so many moons ago . . . Here's a quick time line of our lives over these last few months:

December 2011, January + February + March 2012
We are rehearsing like crazy, playing shows in the Northeast and planning to make a record. . .

"A record! But how?!"

We launch our Kickstarter campaign and are overwhelmed and overjoyed by crowd response!

Tracking begins at Spaceman Sound. Happiness abounds.

April 2012
With our basics tracked - John, Jake, Aaron and I venture up to Crumm Creek (a cabin in the woods of upstate NY) to work on overdubs. Aaron wails on the vibes, John romances the cello (and the recording equipment) and Jake tears our faces off with guitar sounds to melt the sky above.

Soon, after several days of editing and comping overdubs in my living room in Brooklyn, the songs begin to grow, they have life!

Then - SURPRISE! - Aaron and I take a leap into the wild and begin touring with These United States, opening for our new friends Trampled by Turtles!

May 2012
The first leg of tour ends and we jump back into the studio to track vocals and pedal steel before heading back out on the road again with TUS, playing this time with The Heartless Bastards!

June + July + August + September 2012
Aaron and I are exhausted but happily still touring our minds to pieces with TUS, from east to west to middle to east to north to east again.

Finally in late September, we get a break! Back to the studio - Tom and I roll up our sleeves and get the songs cleaned up and ready for more overdubs and mixing.

October 2012
After a few final shows with TUS - Aaron and I say farewell to our new tourmates and head our separate ways.

BUT no break from the touring life for this one, however . . . I head out on the road yet again for a six week intense national tour! This time, however, as a guitar tech for my dear friend and amazing musician Kaki King in support of her new incredible record Glow (which I highly recommend!).

November 2012
Still wrangling guitars (all seven of them, the little beasts!) with Kaki.

We have a little tour break for Thanksgiving and Tom and I duck into the studio to begin the first round of mixing!

December 2012
Just a few more shows with Kaki on the east coast before getting back into the studio to finish up (fingers crossed!) the mixing process!

and THAT bring us up to date . . .  NOW, HERE'S WHERE WE'RE GOING!

January + February 2013
Mastering and pressing! Sticker making! Reward creating!

And THEN one grand old party of mailing madness, finally getting this project to you fine people,  without whom this record would not have happened as gracefully or joyfully as it has.

We are SO excited. Thanks again for coming along for the ride, and well, for making this ride happen in the first place.

Happy holidays to you all!

xo Anna

Autumn at last!

Dearest Backers and Friends,

After nearly six months of heavy touring with These United States, Aaron and I find ourselves finally able to recover and catch up. What an incredible journey we've been on! We rocked the Southeast with our friends The Heartless Bastards, opened for Willie Nelson ( ! ), played to thousands of people under the sunshine in Louisville, KY with The Walkmen, were featured live on the air at radio stations across the country, played to sold out crowds with our dear friends Trampled By Turtles AND even traveled to Alaska!

Whew!

We are happily exhausted and overdue for an update on THIS project. We apologize for not updating everyone more frequently about what we've been up to, it's been such a whirlwind of a summer and trying to keep up with touring life, our own sprawling lives AND this project has certainly had its challenges :) Thank you for being patient with us!

And many HUGE thanks to those who came out to our shows and said hello - it's been just lovely to see some of you on our adventures!

Over the last few months, whenever time allowed for us to pop into the studio, we've been working away on this record. A vocal session here, a mixing session there . . . and we are enormously excited to announce that we are - AT LAST- entering the final stages of the recording process! We've finished tracking at Spaceman Sound, the vocals are done and the lingering overdubs are being worked on as we speak. This last part, while fun in many ways, is also the most difficult. There are so many little decisions to make about how we want things to sound and feel. Do we want that cello part to happen throughout the song or just during the chorus? Should the song sound like it's dissolving at the end? Should we add a harmony there? What if added vibes or bells here? You get the idea, it's endless!

And although we are getting closer to a finished product, it looks like we will - hopefully - have everything done and in your hands/ears by December!

Wow, December!?!

Yes, December! I know this is nearly six months after we had hoped to be finished, but who would've known back in March just how dramatically our lives and situations would change? And all for the better, the experiences we've had this summer will only add to this project and color it in unexpected and exciting ways. We really can't wait to share this with you guys!

Thanks again for being a part of this, it truly means the world to us to have your support!

All the best,

xx Anna of YCB

Adventures ahoy!

Dearest friends,

What an adventure this has been! We’ve been working away in the studio, slowly but surely putting this record together piece by piece, track by track, song by song. And we’re almost done! Each session brings us closer and closer and we just can’t wait to share it with you all. Thanks again for your patience and support throughout, we really couldn’t have done it without you!

And of course, like any creative process, it certainly has been taking a bit longer than we’d expected . . . BUT the greatest reason for this is because Aaron (mustache #3/drummer) and I (lead mustache) have been having a wild adventure of our own touring with a band called These United States. We feel so enormously lucky to be a part of their amazing project, we love their music AND they just happen to be some of the greatest people around.

We’ve just spent the last few months touring all over the east coast and Midwest and are (as of today!) kicking off another tour in support of their INCREDIBLE new album, These United States. We’ll be heading from east to west and will even be making a stop in Alaska! SO if you’re around any of the cities below and want to see what we’ve been up to (outside of making this record!) come out and say hello!

We’re still as excited as ever about making our own album and will be furiously working on it at every chance we get. Touring with TUS has been hugely inspiring and I’m sure that our playing together this spring and summer will bring new life to our own songs and make them even better than they were before. My oh my are we still so excited :)

Thanks again for being a part of our project, we can’t thank you enough!

xx Anna of YCB
