About this project
Why is this important? Because 70% of us either watched or participated in some athletic pursuit, while less than 2% of athletic wear is made here. That means 1.2 million domestic, skilled workers have lost their jobs, more than any other manufacturing sector.
Main Pledges: Men's Athletic Shorts & Women's Athletic Capris
Our approach to American-made athletic wear is simple: choose great materials, focus on design, and make it well.
Quality in, quality out. This is where everything begins: we sought out the most durable and lightweight performance fabrics.
"Simplicity is about subtracting the obvious and adding the meaningful" That sums up our philosophy; We choose minimal over flashy, but we don't believe in compromising between function and form.
Assembly and Construction
Our craftsmen do solid work. Every sewer that walks in has to make the cut, and every garment that ships must exceed the bar. Like many local businesses, this factory has weathered some tough times. The owner's a man of few words, and when asked how he came out of the downturn, he only offered:
Why back now?
Your pledges will go directly to manufacturing our first production run of both styles. We've got the designs done and the materials ready; However, we’ve gone as far as we can on the solo part of our mission, and now we need your support.
Secondly, you'll directly contribute to American jobs. That’s right, for every 500 units pledged on this project alone, our factories will add one job back to the supply chain.
Other Pledge Levels:
(And what's a YESLER anyway?)
Yesler is based in Seattle, and we sorta love this town; Our namesake is after Henry Yesler, one of Seattle's earliest pioneers and founding fathers.
Risks and challenges
At this point, our designs are finished and our factories are ready. It's not if we'll ship, it'll be a matter of when:
We've been planning this for a while and have mitigated most risks. We run a real tight ship, and we'll only ship out products that are 100% ready, but no earlier. That date is January 2015.
However, all the Gantt charts in the world are no match for the nuances of reality. If something unforeseen happens with our supply chain, we'll be transparent and keep you posted about your order status.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
