20 years ago, my father opened a factory in Long Island City, New York and started producing fine men's dress socks.
Unfortunately, after most sock production shifted to Asia, that factory was forced to close, but what I learned growing up about what makes a great sock has stuck with me through the years.
Today, socks are still made using roughly the same technology they were 20 years ago.
However, in the last few years, there's been a dramatic decline in quality and craftsmanship.
Hand & Terry was created to reverse this trend.
Our goal is to make the best socks in the world by using the finest raw materials and technology available.
With years of manufacturing and design experience in the sock industry, we understand the details that go into making a great sock.
And by bringing the product directly from the factory to our customers, we can make quality socks that are truly affordable as well.
With your help, we can start the first step of our journey: building a better dress sock.
We sourced the best long-staple Egyptian cotton we could find. Super soft and comfortable to wear all year round. Our socks contain 80% combed Egyptian cotton, 10% nylon, and 10% spandex.
We designed a unique ultra-thin ribbed cuff that always holds firmly without ever being too tight. Comfortable on any size leg and even under tight pants.
We doubled the length of our cuff to provide a truly secure grip. Yet it's designed to be comfortably folded down for people who like a shorter mid-calf length.
We sourced our dress socks from the same Italian factory that produces for high-end brands that retail at $20-$50 a pair.
Your pledge will go towards meeting our factory's minimum order quantities, but more than that, your support brings us one step closer in our long-term goal to make the world's best socks across all categories.
In exchange for your pledge, you'll get to be the one of the first ones to try on what we're confident will be the world's best dress socks.

Risks and challenges
We've been working on this campaign for months to make sure you guys get an amazing product. Here is a brief timeline and a list of the risks & challenges for our product.
Start: Completion of Kickstarter (Allow up to 20 days for funds to clear)
Week 1: Backer survey to chose product and providing mailing addresses.
Week 2-4: Yarn Production
Week 5-7: Knitting, Seaming, and Finishing
Week 8-9: Overseas Shipping
Week 10: Final packaging and fullfillment
We've worked in the sock industry for many years and are very familiar with the production process. With that said, there can always be unforeseen challenges during the many steps of production (ordering the yarn, knitting the product, seaming, finishing) that may cause delays. We will stay in constant contact with our factory in Italy to ensure that everything goes smoothly and we’ll keep our backers continually updated during the production process.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
