We Shipped Shovel Knight! Mega May and Catch-Up Stream TONIGHT!!

FOR SHOVELRY! After near endless days of bleary-eyed internal testing and bug fixing, we opened this week by creating a gold master candidate of Shovel Knight! That means we have a potentially finished version of the game which is ready to go live!
Now we are in the submission and certification process for platform holders. That’s when external teams verify that the game works as expected. If everything checks out on their side, then they’ll prepare the game to go live on their digital storefront and get back to us with a true, solid release date.

But! If they uncover any issues that somehow slipped by our team then the game will “bounce” back to us for a fix! So… at this point, even the Yacht Club is playing the waiting game.

After designing, implementing, iterating, and bug fixing for over a year, the team here is really stoked about where the final version of the game landed. We think it’s our best work yet, and we hope you will enjoy playing Shovel Knight!  Here's a screen shot of the final game, free of explanation!

More Progress to Share!

We sent the game out, had some time to rest, but now we’re back and all fired up to put together all of the physical Kickstarter rewards. We’re pulling out all the stops on this one! Here’s a teaser pic of stamps, crafts, papers, and materials for our infamous dirt letter. Yeah, we’re pulling out all the stops… this is premium dirt packaging! Pullin' out the stops!

It’s Mega May 2014! Let’s Stream!

Happy Mega May Everyone! We’ve really really missed you guys, but the crazy crunch time is over for now, so let’s rejoice this whole month by playing some Mega Man… together!

We want to kick it off right with a Stream TONIGHT at 7PM PDT! We’ll be playing Mega Man, hanging out, and catching everyone up on all things Yacht Club. Join us, won’t you?

Kickstarter Plug Time!

And we have some great ones this time!

The Adventures of Pip

The Adventures of Pip is a sidescrolling action adventure being developed by our near and dear friends at Tic Toc Games. Aside from an interesting gameplay hook, it has incredible talent attached, including not only the creative guidance of Marc Gomez (Who worked with Sean as Art Director on a Boy and His Blob) but our own Jake Kaufman!! It’s got awesome written all over it so go check it out NOW!

Pop Middle Ages

We’re very excited to be a part of this project. Pop Middle Ages is a series of medieval-style prints featuring all of your favorite pop culture icons, especially Shovel Knight! That’s right, the Blue Burrower is featured, along with TMNT, Masters of the Universe, and some other great indie games! We’re dying to get our hands on these prints… maybe you will be too?

That’s all for now, team! Hope to see you on stream soon and often!

Any chance you guys will be at E3? I'd love to get a taste while I wait for certification to continue taking forever ;)

    2. Ben Lorenz on May 31, 2014

@Sukrit - looks like all you CAN do is wait. And wait and wait and wait....

      Should be "Wait Knight".

    3. Sukrit Chaijiraphant on May 26, 2014

@Yatch Club I can't wait to play your game. Keep up your good work though.

    4. Yacht Club Games Creator on May 23, 2014

@Sukrit Chaijiraphant: Not quite yet, things always seem to move a bit slower when the anticipation is at its zenith!

    5. Sukrit Chaijiraphant on May 23, 2014

It's 13 days already so do you have any update on the progress or a solid release date?

    6. Yacht Club Games Creator on May 21, 2014

      @Ohaiguy: Thanks!
@Colin Mc: Vita? haha I am very interested to see how it does there too! (especially since we don't have any current plans releasing on Vita! )
@Chris Niejadlik: No chance of that happening!
@Mithra: That might be hard, haha. Where would they fit?!
@Shamus The Knight: It was a pledge tier! Though it may have been a little pricy. We have 5 bonus bosses/enemies going in the game that were designed by others!

    7. Shamus The Knight on May 13, 2014

@Mithra, I they had it as a Pledge tier, I've easily gone for being a bonus boss.

I know they are not official but Taco Knight, Shoe Knight and even Shamus may have to sneak into that last art.

@YachtClubGames - I am P U M P E D for work to commence on the backer bonuses!!!!! No resting on any laurels of any sort, k? ;)

I am interested to see how this game does. On vita, sorry I know I know. But seriously I am excited to finally get another kickass sidescroller. Been far too long since the last metroid like one. Not counting the swapper.

    11. Ohaiguy on May 9, 2014

Congrats guys! Can't wait to dig in to this title :P

    12. Yacht Club Games Creator on May 9, 2014

@Shamus The Knight: oh! Waaayyyy less than all of those. We are hoping within a few weeks, but it would be lame to announce a date and then miss it by only a few days so we are holding off until we know 100% for sure!

    13. Shamus The Knight on May 9, 2014

@YCG, I meant as an estimate. I've never been a part of this type of thing before. 1/4 of a year? 1/2 of a year? I don't know.

    14. Yacht Club Games Creator on May 9, 2014

@Pat Guarino: Yes we are going to release all launch platforms simultaneously. That means PC, Steam, WiiU and 3DS. Mac and Linux (as stretch goals) will be coming in soon after.
@Keith Alan Kamikawa: We will! Though there is much that still needs doing!
@Shamus The Knight: we are actually pretty confident in our submission candidate. We've all done this many, many times and the team agrees that this is one of the strongest candidates that we've ever been a part of! In terms of how far we are from release? We are working with the certifications team to get a final answer on this, and once we have our date, we'll let you know!!!!

Awesome news! Here's hoping the game is already perfect, but either way I'm happy to wait as long as it takes.

    16. Shamus The Knight on May 9, 2014

Assuming everything everything goes well (and I highly doubt it), how long will it take to release?

    17. Keith Alan Kamikawa on May 9, 2014

Congrats!!! Kick back and enjoy the weekend!!!!

    18. Pat Guarino on May 9, 2014

Will you be waiting for console certification to finish before releasing the PC/Mac/Linux version?

    19. Yacht Club Games Creator on May 9, 2014

@toxin189: Sorry we haven't gotten back to you! I see that you sent us a message yesterday. We are working through a lot of messages right now and I'll get to yours very soon!
@Ryan Hicks: you will NOT be disappointed :)

    20. Sam Sorensen on May 9, 2014

Ah man, can't wait for those physical rewards and the hypest of shoveling available on the interwebs! :D

I've emailed you with a very important question, but I haven't gotten a response is it possible to switch which version of the game we wish to receive?
