Update #31: Dig The Vote 2013!
What’s up Shovelers and Shovelettes!? Lots to talk about; let’s excavate!
Playable Boss Knight Campaigning Begins!
Long ago, in the olden days of Shovel Knight, we met a stretch goal to include 3 boss knights as playable characters in the main game. Instead of Shovel Knight, you could play as one of the Order of No Quarter (or the Enchantress!), with different gameplay and story! We promised that backers would be allowed to vote on who goes in.
But who’s it gonna be? There can only be 3!
We know it’s hard to choose, because we’ve been arguing about it amongst ourselves for months! That gave us an idea, so we are happy to announce...
Dig the Vote 2013!
Everyone at the Yacht Club has opinions about who is the best, and we’re sure that you do too. We’re gonna write some op-eds about our favorite candidates… and you should too!
If you need help deciding, we made an update! check out how each boss might play, and see their awesome art!! CLICK HERE NOW!
Send us your video, art piece, essay, animation, or whatever to convince everyone that your favorite knight is the best. We’ll feature the most impassioned pieces as the campaign continues… and maybe even have a fabulous prize or two! At the end of all this we will open the polls. That’s gonna be on Friday, October 4th: two weeks from today. Send everything by then! Let’s do it!!
We’d be sooo happy to receive your tweets @yachtclubgames

Awesome Indie Roundup Time!
Wow, there are tons of great games all the sudden! Some are out, and some are just starting their Kickstarter campaigns. Luckily, the Yacht Club is here to separate the wheat from the chaff. Here are some of the cool things that have caught our eye recently.
Legend of Dungeon is OUT!
We Love Robot Loves Kitty. We love their game, Legend of Dungeon, too! We’ve showed you Legend of Dungeon before, and asked for help on Steam Greenlight. Well guess what? Thanks to you (and many others!), Legend of Dungeon passed Greenlight, and it’s OUT!! If you want multiplayer dungeon crawling with unique graphics and a wicked sense of humor, go get it!
Volgarr the Viking is OUT!
When Shovel Knight was just a twinkle in our eye, Volgarr the Viking was one of the first Kickstarters that we backed. We booted up the game and it immediately kicked our butts!
Seriously, Volgarr is the real deal. The design and character control are excellent, showing restraint and precision in ways that few games do. It’s available now on PC, so if you like crazy pixel vikings killing stuff ( and feeling AWESOME after beating a tough level )... get it!
Hyper Light Drifter on Kickstarter!
We have also been talking with Heart Machine, the team behind Hyper Light Drifter! This game looks crazy crazy amazing and it’s spreading like wildfire! It’s already reached more than 900% of its goal, but why not keep a good thing going? We might do a stream to help promote this game, so look out for that. And in the meantime, click here to feast your eyes on the beauty!
And now for something pretty different! We are video game geeks, but we love board games too. Robot turtles caught our eye with its premise: a board game that teaches programming concepts to young kids. One of Yacht Club Games’ missions is to make sure that great gameplay is experienced by young people, so that they will become creators of their own some day. So, if you have young kids or know someone who does… and you want to help create a word of future game geeks... check it out by clicking here!
Shantae on Kickstarter!
SO EXCITING! EVERYBODY DANCE!
We have been all atwitter on our social networks about WayForward’s Kickstarter for Shantae: Half Genie Hero! Our talented friends and colleagues there are pulling out all the stops to make this game happen, and it looks awesome! WayForward are masters of sidescrolling platformers, and this looks like the greatest one yet. With luck, they’re going to make their goal any day now, so now it’s time to really get the word out and hit those stretch goals! Check them out here!
That’s it for now, everyone. Keep on Shovelin’, and think about the boss polls!!!
