“Shovel Knight-mania seemed to sweep the show floor right from the start.” – John Scalzo, Warpzoned

“Shovel Knight is … on track to shock those eyeballs into a state of pure retro pleasure…” – Jillian Werner, Gamezebo

The critics have spoken! Shovel Knight was an enormous success at PAX East! Our booth was busy the whole time with media, fans, and other devs! We made tons of friends as we gave out our brochures and buttons, worked the show floor, and got the word out about Shovel Knight. Check out some shots of the show floor and the Shovel Knight booth below!

Best of all, we got to see the reactions on player’s faces as they played the game, which made us pretty misty eyed. The outpouring of support has been truly amazing.
But it was way too long to be away! Now that we are back, we promise to you, our wonderful backers and fans, a flow of DAILY updates! Character reveals, stretch goals, live streams of the game being played, and more! We’re gonna bury you in Shovel Knight awesomeness!

Our first live stream of the game is going to be at 5pm Pacific Time this Friday, March 29. We are going to be playing the game demo we showed at PAX, answer questions, and just have some fun. So get pumped for that!

Lastly, we wanted to share one more really cool thing.... Propeller Knight! The next member of the Order of No Quarter!

This is Propeller Knight. He commands the Enchantress' flying machine with the cocksure attitude of a sky pirate! With his Heli-Helmet, he can zoom short distances with ease. Shovel Knight encounters Propeller Knight on top of the aircraft as it zooms through the sky; earth fights against air in a true battle of elements!

• Pros: Talented Fencer, Mechanical Heli-Helmet, Debonair!
• Cons: Arrogance, Lightweight, Outrageous Accent!

Whoa, took a while to get back to this.

I listened to "The Immigrant Song" just due to Led Zeppelin also writing a song called "No Quarter." I suppose that song would've been a clearer connection, but the Shovel Knight needs a more "Warrior's theme' tune to go with him.

    2. Creator Seth Adams on March 29, 2013

The game looks awesome I can't wait. I also couldn't resist trying to get a button, so I looked it up on ebay and sure enough there they were!…

On a side note, I'm hoping that this will help quench my thirst for 2D platformers, I'm a huge Mega Man nut and if this is anything like Mega Man, I will LOVE it!

    3. Creator Yacht Club Games on March 28, 2013

@Drew Newman: It was such a good time but a lot of us got really tired standing and talking all day.
@Timothy: Don't worry, we fully intend to!
@Frank: I think it will but I'll try to make sure we have the setup for that. Since we are doing it through Twitch, I believe there is a limited archive that they have.

    4. Creator Frank on March 28, 2013

Is the live show going to be recorded aso I can watch it later? I'll most likely be at work when it's happening.

    5. Creator Timothy on March 28, 2013

I know you guys have a lot to do...but please please please get this game into the hands of the Nintendo faithful as soon as you can.

      Thanks for dreaming in 8-bits.

    6. Creator Runcycle Media on March 28, 2013

Great to see photos of everyone smiling! Glad yall had a blast!

    7. Creator Yacht Club Games on March 28, 2013

@Kevin R Loveless: I wish we still had them! Buttons were a hot commodity and went fast at PAX! We may get more so stay tuned!
@Bennett Billard: dude that song is rad! but I'm not sure i see the correlation????
@OniBarubary: Hey, I'm glad the game was impressive! Get ready for even more bosses with themes and names and rad designs!
@Sean Lambert: Oh man, that bug happened to 3 people and I'm realy sorry it happened to you!
@Chris Aaron: So glad you could make it to PAX and play it!

    8. Creator Chris Aaron on March 28, 2013

I am so psyched for Shovel Knight! I only heard about it a few days before PAX East, but I knew I would be very interested in it. As soon as PAX opened on Saturday, I ran straight for the booth to check the game out for myself, and I loved it! It's such an awesome throwback to my favourite games from the NES-era, and looks damn beautiful. I am eager for more reveals and footage of the game, and September cannot come soon enough.

    9. Creator Sean Lambert on March 28, 2013

Loved the game guys! Just fix the bug where I got stuck in the wall during the boss fight and we'll be golden.

Very excited to play this on my 3DS!!!

    10. Creator OniBarubary on March 27, 2013

Glad I could see and talk with at least one of you gentlemen (Mr. Nick) during my brief time away from my booth at the convention. Wish I could have played the game a bit but enjoyed the conversation about risk-taking indie-ventures and how good the game looked. Thanks from the guy with the orange hair!

I love the designs of the Order and can't wait to see what they all look like. I'm a sucker for Big Bad Groups with Names and Themes.

    11. Creator Ryan Bell on March 27, 2013

What an awesome update! Glad to hear that there will be daily updates. It is great to see a team that is involved both with their game and with their KS. I see King Knight is displayed on the order of no quarter but no back story yet like Polar Knight and Propeller Knight. Very interesting stuff so far I look forward to finding out more about all these villains and the stretch goals which I am certain you all will break if things keep going with all the press and perhaps a cross promotion... :) I can't really remember the last time I got excited about a video game aside from Delvers Drop until now. Go Shovel Knight!

    12. Creator Bennett Billard on March 27, 2013

"Order of No Quarter." Thanks to this, I will now be blaring "The Immigrant Song" during my first play of this game!

    13. Creator Kevin R Loveless on March 27, 2013

Fantastic news. Although, now I want a button.

    14. Creator Frank on March 27, 2013

That's some great exposure. You'll definitely reach the goal now.

    15. Creator paughthead on March 27, 2013

      More awesomeness atop awesomeness!

    16. Creator Andrés Ruiz Bernabeu on March 27, 2013

Great! You guys really deserve it :)

    17. Creator Onery on March 27, 2013

With this amount of exposure, you guys reaching the funding goal shouldn't be a problem really! Good luck!

    18. Creator Yacht Club Games on March 27, 2013
