Many other written accounts show that off-and-on plantations have been established on the island of Puerto Rico with unknown or poorly documented provenance for the cacao. While large commercial scale production has never been realized on the island, many cacao trees have stood the test of time and survived secretly on local farms.
Recent efforts have been made to find those now naturalized trees around the island to assess local genetic diversity.
We're going to find some of those forgotten trees, process the cacao pods and create one of a kind chocolate.
Our Yabisi Genesis Bar 72% will be created using a blend of the cacao beans that we harvest during our searches, farm visits and the ones currently planted.

Possible future plans for the farm are:

Sustainable IMBA certified mountain bike trail within the farm along with hiking and sightseeing trails.

Risks and challenges
We are currently in the process of visiting farms on the central municipalities of Puerto Rico and continually propagating new seedlings. It may be possible that the trees we visit already had their peak annual harvest lost. There can be some delays because of this fact.
Own a perfectly preserved example of chocolate in its original state - a genuine cacao pod, sun-dried and hand-rubbed to a smooth finish. Pods make excellent educational tools, or striking decorative pieces .
A day at the farm. Join us at the farm for a hands-on demonstration of our processes. From transplanting seedlings, composting, wormcasting, to picking cacao pods and tasting their sweet pulp. You'll see our progress first hand.
Camp at the farm for a weekend. We'll have a camping site ready for two person and include homemade vegetarian breakfast, lunch and dinner for 3 days and 2 nights. You'll tour all the farm processes. You'll also get three (3) bars - 1.76 oz (50g) Yabisi Kakaw Genesis Bar 72% and Oficial Yabisi Kakaw logo artwork sticker. *Does not include transportation costs.
Adopt a tree create your bar. You'll choose a tree and we'll create five (5) custom bars exclusively from that tree once it starts producing pods. You'll have monthly updates on your selected tree that include, growth history, first flowering, and high resolution pictures. You can select up to three ingredients from the available crops at the time. You'll also get three (3) bars - 1.76 oz (50g) Yabisi Kakaw Genesis Bar 72% and Oficial Yabisi Kakaw logo artwork sticker.
