Stretch Goal 2: Electric Boogaloo
Stretch Goal 2: Electric Boogaloo:
Sometime during the night, we reached our 75k stretch goal! This is where I usually give the exact backer count for where we hit that number, but this time I was asleep, so I will just throw out a guess of 1525 backers to reach the number. In any case, thank you all!
We will get into the nuts and bolts of our 3rd party support soon; We’ll be making ongoing updates for additional beacon type accessible by the XY app. Today we can announce that the XY app will support standard iBeacon tags on both iOS and Android. In particular, the XY app will scan for tags with the following ProximityUUID:
This covers beacons produced by Estimote and Roximity, and the vast majority of generic iBeacons on the market today. More to come…
Now, let’s talk about stretch. We have been listening to all the feedback in our messages and comments, and we are excited to announce our 2-pronged 150k stretch goal.
1st, at 150k, we will be offering an additional compatible tag to every backer at pledge level of $75 or more -- shipped immediately upon completion of this Kickstarter. Depending on where we are with the manufacturing process, this could be a XY tag of undetermined color, or a compatible tag from a 3rd party manufacturer. This tag will be delivered alongside the XY app by early May, and will allow our backers to experiment with our best-of-breed tracking system while we work out the kinks. You will of course receive the final product in June as well. All you have to do is have a pledge of $75+ to get this early access tag.
2nd, by popular request -- we will be adding a feature to the XY tag to help call attention to itself when triggered by the app. This will likely be a way for the tag to give off sound, light, or vibration. We are not ready at this time to say exactly what the feature will be, because there are challenges with any of these solutions especially in a water-proof/water-resistant casing such as the XY jewel. You can be sure we will be testing the various options thoroughly and only include the one/ones that really improve the performance of the tag. In any case, this modification will be made FREE OF CHARGE to all XY tags if we reach the $150k stretch goal.
That is all I have today, please keep sharing us on Facebook, Twitter, and North of the Wall!
