It’s time to Stretch!
Hello again everyone. Since we hit our funding goal, we have seen an awesome increase to 1226 backers, and nearly $60,000! Thank you all for your awesome support. After a long, busy weekend meeting suppliers, we are ready to announce our first stretch goal. But first, we have 2 even more awesome things to tell you about.
First, we just got back from meeting with some manufacturing people, and have learned that the packaging will be slightly cheaper than expected. We want to pass the savings on to you, so we are lowing the pledge level of the single XY tags to $17 US and $21 international.
Secondly we are excited to announce:
Using XY, you can easily keep track of the things you keep with you, but how do you know about the things you keep at home. Today, we announce Origin; a new mode for the XY app that will allow you to use any compatible device that you keep at home as a “home base” for your XY tags. Origin will allow you to forward all notifications from the enabled Origin device to the devices you carry with you. You no longer need to worry about whether your dog has run off while you are at work. This option will be delivered free-of-charge to all XY app users at launch.
And now to talk about our first stretch goal. We know that XY is better when more people use it. That is why we have decided that at $75,000, we are going to start supporting hardware tags that are not made by XY. So what does that mean? It means that once we hit $75,000, other tag maker will be able to partner with us so that their hardware will work the XY App. We will build out features to support different functionalities, hardware specs, and manufacturers, and you will be able to manage all your BLE tracking tags from XY, without having to install, open, and manage a million different Apps.
Lastly, Android is coming along great. On that front, we have some new additional screenshots that are looking pretty good, and are using the camera on the device now, so check these out:
(It seems that Derrick likes to take pictures of the things immediately around him while developing).
Thank you all for your support. We are working on some really awesome things right now, and will be back with another update later this week to talk some about those.
