Wow, in less than 5 days, with the help of 600 awesome backers, we have reached 2/3 of our funding goal. With your help, we are well on our way to making XY a reality. Thank you all for your epic support.
We are going to be rolling out frequent updates, and wanted to start by showing off more of the XY app -- you have been asking for them, and we are glad to deliver.
Here are a handful of screenshots that Daniel has just sent me from his in-development iPhone version of the App:
We are also very excited to show off the first (alpha, , running on Nexus 5 - v4.4) screens for our Android App:
As you can see, the Android version is still very much a work in progress, but thanks to Derrick, the newest addition to the XY team, working full time on developing the Android version, things are coming along faster than we expected!
Along with this update, we are adding a new reward, as requested by you. We are adding a 10 pack of XY tags, with a very small early bird at $100 for the first 20 backers, and $110 for everyone thereafter. We are also making a change to the XY Beta to include a 7-pack of tags instead of a single tag. Now you can get in early, and still get a good deal on the final tags.
We have also been listening closely to your feedback about the hardware, and while we cannot say anything specific at this time, we are meeting with our manufacturer later this week to discuss the possibility of adding additional features to our hardware design. Stay tuned, we will be talking more about this after we have the meeting.
Lastly, I would like to take a moment to talk about our philosophy. We believe that any good product needs to be functional, well designed, affordable, and to integrate seamlessly into your life. We focus on details. On making sure that the tag is stylish; something that could keep on the outside of your bag if you so choose. On making sure that the App is functional and a joy to use. On ensuring that our back-end is as powerful as possible, while staying unobtrusive to the user. We take great pride, not only in the features that we have included in XY, but also in the features that we have chosen to omit.
This being Kickstarter after all, we want to support the tinkers among us -- will provide SDKs to integrate with our app and communicate with our tags, and we'll have well-documented APIs for our cloud services, etc, but what we won't do is give you a bucket of features at the expense of reliability or battery life with no clear user benefits.
Thank you all for your support. Please keep on sharing us with your friends on Facebook, Twitter, and carrier pigeon, and keep sending us your feedback!
Nick, Daniel, and the XY Team
