X-Purr: The First "Fitness Pole" Scratching Post for Cats
$6,440

Is your kitty interrupting your pole training? Give your cat their very own pole!
Modeled after the most popular stage pole in the world, the X-Purr Stage Pole is a freestanding cat scratching post that fulfills every cat-owner’s dream of seeing their feline ‘work the pole’ while addressing a cat's natural instinct to rip things to shreds.
Instead of this:

You'll have this:
You can now focus on your own pole training, knowing your kitties will stay out of harm's way because they're fully occupied working on their own dance moves on their X-Purr Stage Pole!

Instagram posts will no longer be destroyed!
You no longer have to worry about capturing those amazing moves for the world to see. Kitty won't be hogging the camera (unless it's pointed at their X-Purr!)

Construction

The X-Purr Stage Pole is constructed with a sturdy wood base that resists tipping and is wrapped in durable vinyl screen-printed with the X-Purr logo. To cushion kitty's feet while dancing, we've also padded the stage with batting material, which also makes the stage a comfy place for your kitty to lounge after a good pole workout.
The two-foot, 50mm pole is wrapped in heavy-duty sisal custom-dyed with pet-friendly Procion Reactive Dyes to reproduce the color of chrome. After hand-dying each foot of rope in a laborious, multi-step process, this rope is then washed in very hot water (140°F) to ensure excess unattached dye is removed. This means your X-Purr Pole is safe for kitty scratches, whisker rubs and other pole dancing shenanigans! We've also attached a disco ball at the top of the pole that is filled with lots of catnip goodness.

The X-Purr Pole Cleaner, which is sold as a bundle with the X-Purr Stage Pole, or as a standalone, is a catnip spray designed to engage your cat in endless hours of healthy and non-addictive playtime with the X-Purr Stage Pole, or any favorite kitty toy. Made from 100% organic North American catnip, our formula is super potent and the best legal high your pet will ever experience! We tested several potencies, settling on a catnip-per-water-ratio only once our own kitties went suitably bonkers. It's Monet, Tabitha, Sir Digby, Pyewacket and Queen LatiFur-approved.

We Need You

Funds raised through Kickstarter will be used to purchase manufacturing and shipping supplies, outsource graphic design, sewing and assembly, and for many, many pounds of catnip.
We've spared no expense with production methods in order to accomplish our goal of getting the X-Purr Stage Pole to replicate a real-life human stage pole. We decided on a heavy-duty vinyl for the X-Purr Stage Pole base that is screen-printed with the the X-Purr logo. Screen-printing makes the graphics really pop while also making the stage look clean and performance-ready.
We use sustainable materials that are pet-friendly and non-toxic, and these materials can cost more. Colored sisal rope is not widely available (and especially not in our desired 'chrome' shade!), so we hand-dye each foot of rope with Procion Fiber Reactive Dyes, which are considered to be more ecologically sound for use than other classes of synthetic dyes. This dying method is a multi-step process and takes time, as well as lots of continuous stirring. Fortunately we're pole dancers, so we have the brawn, but the truth is, dying also requires additional supplies and ingredients, such as pounds and pounds of salt to improve color and take up the dye. Who knew?
And even though catnip can be purchased very inexpensively in bulk from overseas sellers online, we've chosen catnip grown in North America that is 100% organic. And we aren't skimping on quantities when we brew our magical catnip tea for the X-Purr 'Pole Cleaner' spray either!

About Natasha & Arloa

X-Purr is founded by pole fitness celebrities Natasha Wang (2013 International Pole Champion, 2012 Pole Art Runner-Up, 2011 US Pole Dance Champion) and Arloa Reston (2016 North American Pole Dance International Grand Masters Champion, 2014 Pacific Pole Championship Masters Entertainment Champion). Natasha and Arloa are veterans of the pole fitness industry, with over 20 years combined experience teaching, performing and competing in the U.S. and throughout the world. They met through pole, but bonded over a shared love of cats, and developed the idea for X-Purr after attending CatCon 2016 in Los Angeles. It was there they realized there wasn't a product that merged the unique worlds of POLE and CATS.

Risks and challenges
RISKS:
Our biggest risk is that cats all over the world will become so good at pole dancing that they will band together, overtake the industry and there will no longer be a demand for human pole performers.
CHALLENGES:
Our biggest challenge will be identifying quality sourcing of the colored sisal rope should demand exceed our expectations. We are currently able to outsource all of the other pieces if need be, but are still searching for a company that can dye the rope to our standards (keeping it completely safe for the kitties while giving the pole a nice chrome finish). We are in discussions with several potential suppliers and expect to have that challenge handled by the time the campaign wraps up.
