Introducing the Dervish Wyrm. The most affordable and versatile Dervish to date!
About the Wyrm
Over the years, my Silverfish line of mini-knives has been very popular with both collectors and the EDC (Every Day Carry) crowd; but while they excelled at conceal-ability and minimalism, the handles were a little small for serious use. This limitation lead me to design the Wyrm. The first handmade prototype got a lot of attention on social media and the knife forums so I knew I had to explore it further.
Working with my Midtech partner, we prototyped a few CNC machined versions, experimenting with variations in finish and sheaths. Rather than doing a standard Midtech run, I thought this might be a great opportunity to try out Kickstarter.
I initially called this design a "pen knife" because it felt almost like a writing instrument and carried in a similar fashion. People seemed to want to call it a "scalpel", which I think is as good of a description as any.
The slight overall curve of the design isn't just attractive, it mimics the shape of the inside of your palm and provides a controlled and comfortable grip. The very sharp 1 5/8" blade is large enough for most cutting tasks, from pealing apples to cutting open boxes; from sharpening pastels to cleaning trout. It's the ultimate EDC tool for both urban and rural environments, and the blade length is legal in areas where many other knives aren't (please know your own local laws).
I chose AEB-L steel because it excels in this sort of application. It's a very fine-grain stainless that takes & holds a great edge. Widely used on high-end razors, AEB-L makes for an excellent slicer, either as your backup blade or primary carry.
The 3D machined (sculpted) pocket clip not only allows you to clip it on your pants pocket, bag, purse, or MOLLE gear, it also functions as a single scale, fattening up the handle for more control and comfort. It's machined from 6AL-4V titanium for strength and spring retention, and the finish is blue anodized for looks and durability.
With or without pocket clip!
Although I feel that the pocket clip adds to both the form and function of the Wyrm, there are those who may not need one. Just drop it in your glove compartment, backpack, tackle box, desk drawer, etc... no clip necessary.

About Dervish Knives
Established in 2001, Dervish Knives started off as a part-time venture and hobby for me. My background is in art and design, so I never had a lack of inspiration to "draw" from (no pun intended!)—for me, learning the physical craft was the challenge. With the help from many established makers, and lots and lots of practice, I honed my skills and slowly built a name for myself.
Demand quickly grew, and by 2004 it had become clear that I needed to transition to full-time knife maker. Initially I had two distinct product lines, Tactical and Neo-Tribal, but over the years they sort of merged into my own particular style.
Aspiring to create aesthetically pleasing knives which excel in both form and function, I draw heavily on time-tested designs, geometries, and materials.
I currently reside in southern Colorado, where I enjoy hiking, fishing and spending time with my wife and son.
