Why does this film matter?
Think about the last time you watched a film that really moved you, and made you feel something. Now take a second and try to remember what the film was about. Picture the feeling you had after you watched it. The experience of being inspired by a film is incredible but what makes these films so great? The common element is that they are about something that has come along and changed the world forever. A Movement of Movement is a documentary film about a phenomenon that changed the way we act, think, and live. It’s about the one of the fastest growing activities in the United States. A Movement of Movement is the voice of a movement, a philosophy, and a lifestyle. This is the first feature length documentary to dive into the world of Pilates in an artful, but yet well-grounded approach. We are going to explore the origins, evolution, and key factors in the expansion of Pilates.
Now that you know what we’re so excited about, we can talk about the realities of putting together such a huge project. Making a film costs money, especially a great film such as A Movement of Movement. As an independent producer, I have learned to navigate through the filmmaking process as efficiently as possible, but it's still not free. In order to create a high quality film that reaches people all over the world, there are some inevitable expenses including website hosting, legal fees, travel expenses, equipment overhead, hired help, festival entry fees, and much more. My goal as a filmmaker is to put together an incredible story for the world to see and find inspiration, but I can't do it alone. As singer/songwriter, Craig Finn once said, "Dreams cost money, and money costs some dreams." I have a history of doing whatever it takes to get my films made, such as digging ditches, painting decks, and working a number of side jobs in order to finance projects. Having a huge understanding of how hard people work for their money, so I can guarantee that every contribution made will go directly towards making A Movement of Movement an incredible film to inspire people worldwide.
Telling this story is crucial in order to bring a greater understanding of Pilates to the world. I care about the project so much that I have personally financed $2000 of the development and initial shooting of A Movement of Movement. Two things are for certain, A Movement of Movement WILL be made with the help and support of all of you, and it is going to be an incredible film with the potential to bring Pilates into the lives of millions of people.

Risks and challenges
Making a feature length documentary film is both extremely emotionally and physically taxing. It isn’t unusual to work over 15 hours per day for weeks at a time. The road becomes your home and stepping outside your comfort zone becomes a day-to-day occurrence. The only way to truly know if someone is up to the task of making a film is to actually do it, and this is what I’ve done. I have produced, directed, and edited feature length documentaries that were completed on time and within the established budgets. Growing up in Wyoming has taught me the work ethic of simply not stopping until the job is complete. I have dug ditches, painted houses, and worked numerous side jobs in order to bring my films from ideas to the screen. I take pride in the amount of passion I have towards each unique subject, which leads to each film becoming my life, rather than just a project.
Many people don’t understand the amount of time, work, and logistics that goes into making a film. I have learned this from making numerous full-length films, graduating film school with a BA in digital cinema, and earning an MA in communication and journalism. My dedication towards filmmaking is the same dedication I have towards life. In order to make something truly impactful and amazing, you must give yourself wholly to the task. My task is to share the unique voice of Pilates with the world.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
