About this project
Are you someone who has the desire to see more and do more while riding your bicycle? When the trail ends, do you want to continue exploring? As the owner of Wyatt Bicycle Company, I wanted my customers to be able to see places that they have never seen before and experience the feeling of freedom while biking any time of the year. The Drift was created with freedom and adventure in mind. Enjoy the ride and seek out your adventure!
The Drift is a true all terrain bicycle that will take you off the beaten path. The large volume tires provide riders with flotation and traction when it is needed most, on sand, mud, rocks, and packed snow. Ride it while cruising the city streets on your daily commute or race it through the backwoods on the weekend, there's no doubt that you won't have fun while riding this fat bike!
The Drift was designed to be more than just a fat bike that can plow through snow, but a bike that is designed to ride year round in a variety of environments. The frame geometry is conducive for racing the single track, cruising on the beach, or navigating the city streets.
The 45mm wide Velocity Dually rims give the Husker Du tires a round profile, which increases speed and improves cornering on all types of terrain. Another feature is the rear sliding dropouts that allows the rider to choose between 26" fat rims and 29" mountain bike rims, which truly allows you to adapt the Drift to your riding style.
Design your Bike
For the first time ever, you will be able to customize your very own fat bike by choosing the frame and decal color to make your bike one of a kind. Choose from 7 different frame colors and 10 different decal colors.
Made in the USA
For the past year, Wyatt Bicycle Co. has been on a mission to bring bicycle manufacturing back to the United States. When we set out to create a fat bike, our number one priority was to have the frame manufactured in the USA. We partnered with Zen Bicycle Fabrication located in Portland, OR to bring you a frame that is handcrafted by some of the industry's best frame builders.
Assembled in the USA
The Drift is assembled by hand in La Crosse, WI. We know what makes a bike not just good, but better than the rest, which is why we put our heart and soul into every one of our bikes. Every piece, from the components to the frame, are inspected and assembled by skilled bicycle mechanics.
Powder Coated in the USA
The Drift is powder coated in Ettrick, WI, which is 30 miles north of La Crosse. Powder coating is an advanced finishing process that is an eco-friendly alternative to liquid paint. It is more resistant to scratching, chipping, fading, and wearing when exposed to snow, rain, and the hot sun compared to liquid paint. Learn more about our powder coating process here.
Hand Built Wheelset
This bike is equipped with a lightweight wheelset that features American made Velocity Dually rims and Wyatt alloy hubs. The wheelset is built by hand and trued to perfection by The Wheel Department. The Wheel Department is known to be the best in the business of wheel building. They ensure that their builds will not have to be re-trued or re-tensioned after the initial ride.
Adaptable Frame Geometry
The geometry is specifically designed to accommodate three riding styles; 29er, 29+, and fat via the rear sliding dropouts. The frame is lightweight, stiff, responsive, and provides maximum standover clearance, which makes dabbing, stopping, and restarting in tough trail conditions easy.
Aluminum Tube Set
The tubes are American sourced 6061 aluminum that are optimized for strength and have excellent corrosion resistance. Gussets are added for additional strength where they are needed most.
The Drift weighs 30.5 pounds, which allows for easy maneuverability and ultimate control. The aluminum frame itself weighs 4.5 pounds.
Tapered Head Tube
The tapered head tube matched up with the large down tube significantly increases the front end stiffness and enhances the control of the bike. The head tube allows for tapered or standard 1-1/8" forks.
Large Seat Tube
The 30.9mm seat tube allows for greater stiffness in the saddle.
Full Length Cable Routing
The cables are not exposed to elements such as dirt, sand, snow, and water, which will improve the performance of the bike in poor riding conditions.
170mm Rear Spacing
The 170mm spacing allows for a stronger symmetrical rear wheel while maintaining a proper chain line with a 100mm bottom bracket.
Rear Sliding Dropouts
They allow riders to choose between three different tire sizes. Ride the bike set up as a standard 29er mountain bike, add a little width to the tire and ride 29+, or get fat and ride 4" tires on a 26" rim. NOTE: Chain tensioners will be added to the dropouts.
Rear Tire Clearance
Enough tire clearance to ride 26" x 4.0" tires on 100mm rims with a 2 X 10 drivetrain.
A lightweight 790g imported 6061 T6 aluminum fork, tapered steerer tube, with IS disc brake mount. The fork is 135mm spaced and will fit a 26 x 4" tire on a 100mm rim.

Risks and challenges
Since founding Wyatt Bicycle Company in 2011, I have launched several products and have learned a lot about the process of introducing a product to the market. My experiences thus far will help overcome any challenges that might arise during the supply chain process, such as production delays, shipping delays, and customs clearance, for example. My vendors and the Wyatt Bicycle Co. team will make every effort to stay on schedule and deliver the product to our supporters as soon as possible. If there are problems or delays during the production process, we will make sure to communicate this information to all of you.
