Radioactive kangaroos, a tourist limb collecting wench and hippie banditos run amok in the post-apocalyptic landscape of DOOMLANDS. This Australian animated sitcom will follow the exploits of outlaw Danny Doom and his gang of misfits: a bumbling drunkard cop, a lizard chef, an abrupt transgender warrior, and a publican that’s seen it all. They call their Oasis Bar home, a place full of violent misfits, soaked in beer and blood.
Pulled from the collective, perverted minds of Josh O'Keefe, Max Favetti and the thong-donning Sunny Munn, with your support the pilot episode of DOOMLANDS will be completed by December 2015.
BARREN WASTELAND. BLOODY CHAOS. BEER ON TAP.
PILOT EPISODE: "THE DOOF"
Duration: 12 minutes
Our first major milestone on our quest to bring DOOMLANDS to the world is the creation of a short pilot that introduces our world and characters. Your cash is all going into ~17,280 frames worth of shit-hot animation because it takes a bunch of time to pull something like this together, and our animators need a little something to get by. The script for the pilot is finalised and the story is as follows:
After a big night at the bar, Danny Doom and the rest of the OASIS crew realise their beer has been stolen by a gang of partying bandits. Danny, Lhandi and Jep follow them back to their 'doof' on the Sacred Mountain and steal the beer back from the debauched trespassers. This begins a violent desert car chase involving a trailer full of beer, reckless bandits, fireball throwing natives and a giant serpent destroying everything in it's path.
Meanwhile, Xanthena and Tetsuo have been left to look after the bar, and the lack of beer has left the regulars quite rowdy. In desperation, Tetsuo crafts a special 'cocktail' as a substitute. The drink ends up having psychedelic side effects, sending all the patrons loopy, and forces Xanthena to deal with her inner demons.
WHY DO WE NEED ALL THAT CHEDDAR?
Most of the coin is for the animators! We want this show to be bad-arse! Time is $$$ baby, and animation takes a heck of a long time. We'll also use a portion of the money raised towards the future of the show, and building an international audience so that more people can get a taste of that sweet, sweet Doomshine... with enough support, we can expand the DOOMLANDS universe into a whole series! We know we're sitting on some gold here, and we are set on getting this puppy on TV.
And you know, if there's a bit extra in the kitty, we'll throw a PARTY for y'all...
THE VOCAL TALENT
Sunny Munn | Danny Doom
Friends and scholars alike have yet to discern the Swamp Creature’s origins. When pressed, this Slumdog Millionaire speaks vaguely of a mythical land, its oppressive tropical heat and houses built on towering stalks. This long limbered beast has the gift of the gab. In between stand up comedy, drinking pints and losing bikes, the rest of the team acts as a sieve, fossicking through the twisted muck of his mind to see what sticks in DOOMLANDS.
| Xanthena, Tetsuo, Doof King
If a throng of acid fiends had an all-out freakfest orgy with Alanis Morissette and an entire stable of 'My Little Ponies', Max Favetti would be the resulting spawn. Versatile and affable, this verbose purveyor of mirth enriches the lives of all whom he meets. Whether marauding the Melbourne back-alleys clad in kaleidoscopic spandex, or traipsing through the Nevada desert with a headful of beans; rest assured, goodtimes & madcap adventures are always just around the corner. But beware the warbled ramblings of our benevolent young boffin. For, once you peer into the rabbit-hole that is Massimo's twisted, genius mind - there is no turning back. You have been warned.
Nat Nespeca | Lhandi
When searching for the voice of Lhandi, the team looked no further than Signorina Nespeca. This eye popping thespian will make you pick those peepers back off the floor so you can wipe away the tears she moved you to. If she’s not suffering for her craft or hand making salsiccia in the garage with her Nonna, you can find her fly kicking old mate in the booth. Her acting chops are the only thing that brings legitimacy to the cast.
Ben Hewett | Jep
While his wardrobe may be so generic it will make your tongue bleed, Ben “The Original Mad Dog” Hewett is as far away from normalcy as you can get. Don’t let the domesticated handy man, committed husband and father persona fool you, this Mad Dog earnt his namesake true and proper. If he wasn’t pissing in motel hot tubs on the road with Crusty Demons as their MC, he was in a McLaren F1 going 150 around a hairpin turn, commentating live for the adulating onlookers at the Top Gear Road Show. Truly one of the best talents this country has to offer, we breathe a collective sigh of relief every day that an invoice from his management isn’t in the mailbox.

GET AROUND US?
We all learnt a lot about American culture growing up watching The Simpsons, because animated TV Shows have a spectacular way of recycling stories. What if those stories were Australian?
With a barren, bloody wasteland and beer on tap, DOOMLANDS captures the fading mysticism of the Wild West, and presents it in a world built on post-apocalyptic Science Fiction. DOOMLANDS has the potential to rebuild, or remix, those Australian myths that are embedded into the national psyche. These myths are what sets Australia apart from the rest of the world and by exploring them, a national identity can be found.
Hold on to ya stubbies, because this Southern-Summer... DOOMLANDS is coming!
