So: a First World War dramatic short film where reality and accuracy are the driving forces. Simple...
With military consultant for film and TV Andy Robertshaw, and a team of living historians and non-actors, the focus will be of telling a story that is more like manipulated documentary than drama.
I want people to come away from the film saying: "well, I guess that's as close as cinema'll ever get to what happened". It's about the men, in the moment, doing a job and not gratuitous violence and backstory.
The story is of cameraman Geoffrey Malins, the man who helped film The Battle of the Somme. We follow Malins on his journey on the first day of the battle, and through our lens we will see through his: the faces, the trenches and the battle.
We look to recreate those iconic scenes from the original film and fill the gaps as accurately as possible.
So, we need £2500 minimum to get this film off the ground. But what's in it for you - other than the pleasure?
You will be added to a new exclusive, private Facebook group with filmmakers, actors, producers, location managers, historians etc all interested in making history on film, plus your name in the credits.
You will be added to the FB group and invited to an exclusive conference call with the filmmakers and War Horse consultant Andy Robertshaw, where we will chat about the film and the Kickstarter campaign, and you can ask anything you find fitting, plus your name in the credits.
You get all those benefits, plus a digital copy of the film before general release, plus all our notes and preparations, and behind the scenes digital memorabilia for how we made this Kickstarter campaign.
You get all of the above, plus an in depth behind-the-scenes film where - rather than banging on about ourselves - it will look into the preparation and shooting of a film such as this. You will also have your name credited and/or your company’s name credited as a executive producer/production company.
New, exclusive and limited. You will receive a DVD and digital package of the film, the behind-the-scenes, and 'Malins: The Real Story' short documentary. Also, a photo book with stills from the film and behind-the-scenes images (signed by the team), plus a few mini-films and interviews with our armourer and historians. PLUS everything that has been listed previously.
