Update #3

Compost Bike Tour

Comment

Dear backers,

As the season comes to a close, we would like to invite you to join us for a behind the scenes tour of WQCI sites. On Saturday, October 23rd, we will be visiting five compost sites we manage. We've been processing about 1,000 lbs of compost a week, and have created around 4 tons of compost so far this season, so we're pretty excited to share the morning with you and answer any question you have.

The ride will start at 9am at Long Island City Community Garden, located on 49th Ave between Vernon Blvd and 5th St. the weather is supposed to be sunny and cool - perfect for a bike ride. If you don't have a bike, but would like to join us, please drop us a line - we'll figure something out.

More info about the ride:

-It is less than 5 miles long with 5 stops.
-It features restrooms at 4 of the 5 stops.
-It includes a stop at a farmers market to enjoy refreshments; the last stop will be at a community garden pot luck (consider bringing a dish that can travel).
-It will pass two bike shops, in case your ride needs a mechanics attention.

It would be great if you can let us know you're coming, and if you'd like to bring guests. Feel free to show up on the day even if you haven't RSVP's. To register for the ride please visit http://bit.ly/WQCI-BikeTour

See you Saturday,
