Not sure if you really care about the guy behind the project or if you're just here for the bunnies, but here goes: My name is Wouter and I'm a graphic designer and illustrator from the Netherlands, who lives in Denmark. I'm currently working in the toy industry and spend the rest of my time on passion projects in (video) games. More info can be found here: http://www.wvv-games.com.
Since 2013 I've been working on my main passion project called Bossbattle Bunnies. It's a short, fun card game for 3-6 players. In this card game you embark on a 10-20 minute bunny-themed dungeon crawl with your friends. You'll find loot, get cursed, fight monsters, and most importantly, test your friendships. It's easy to learn the game as you go along, so grab a beer (or a lemonade) and go adventuring!
As if a pocket-size dungeon crawl wasn't awesome enough already, this game doubles as regular playing cards. That means you can use it for Poker, Solitaire, Go fish and all the other classics. Talk about value-for-money! You can even take it to the bar, do some tricks and sweep someone off their feet. Just be sure to send me an invite to the wedding if you do!
Bossbattle Bunnies originally had my own artstyle for consistency, but then I figured it would be way cooler to have many different artists (18 in total) contribute to this project in their own style. This resulted in 54 unique illustrations that together turn this 2-in-1 deck of cards into a portable museum! The contributing artists (in no particular order) are listed below. Be sure to look them up on Instagram.
Sten Platz (@stenplatz) - Crystal Bam Fontan (@bamboota) - André Dall (@andredall) - Joana Coelho (@joanapanda) - Martine Beetz (@martinebeetz) - Olivia Mary Joy (@marys_malice) - Ian Sta. Maria (@takbotikbalang) - Alma Schurmans (@almaniart) - Roberta Sandri (@musirosa)- Cecilie Witt Jensen (@ceci.felts) - Alan Vásquez De Jorge (@lele_melele) - Ivi van Keulen (@studiovankeulen) - Sean Jeon - Madison O'Neill - Dennis Rønneby - Ike van Vugt - Henning Poulsen - Wouter van Vugt (@woutervanvugt)
Pledging should be pretty straightforward. Make a pledge, get one or more decks of cards! There are two versions of the deck: The Limited First Edition (only a 1000 in existence) with the old rules, and the brand-spanking new Artist Edition with tweaked gameplay. On top of that there are some unique items: Framed original pencil drawings, a felt character ( Bunception) and a clay sculpture (Shell Shield), as featured in the card games!
To realise this awesome project we'd need at least 4000 Euro. 2000 for production and shipping from the printing company to myself, 1000 for future campaigning, giving Kickstarter their share etc. and the last 1000 for sending the artists an admittedly meagre compensation. If we surpass the Kickstarter goal however, every extra cent not spent on increasing the order size will be divided over all artists (excluding myself). They can't live off exposure after all!
The card game is designed, a printing company has been chosen and an awesome paper/varnish quality has been found. This means that if this Kickstarter campaign is succesful we'll go straight into production. Production, handling and shipping will take a month or two, but we'll make sure you get before December, in case you're planning to gift it to someone for the holidays!
Risks and challenges
The risk of this project failing is rather low, because of the following reasons:
>The artwork has been completed beforehand to avoid delays
>There has been a succesful production run with the same printing company in the past
There are however some shipping challenges you should be aware of:
>The "Limited First Edition" decks are in Denmark where I currently live
>The printing company making the "Artist Edition" is located in the Netherlands
>Family and friends in the Netherlands will help with parts of the shipping
>This might mean that combo orders will come in split packages and on different days
>Split shipping costs will be solved on our end
