I'm taking a break from creating background/scenery pieces for the table-top, to present my first set of 3-D area-of-effect markers! The theme of this set is fire effects, and it will include 3-D props depicting hemispherical blast-radiuses (for bombs, incendiary grenades and other balls o' fire great and small), cones (for flame throwers, dragon breath, etc.), 2" fire markers (anything from the comforting flames of a hearth, to a bonfire, to a medium-sized elemental creature), 12" line measuring tools that can also be assembled as linear or circular walls of flame, and fire-themed spin-counters that can be used to measure anything from effect durations, to life points, to the remaining charges on an item. They run from 1-100!
Unlike the 2-D pieces that have commonly been produced in the past, these 3-D pieces show not only the length and width of most area effects, but also the height. Best of all, their design allows them to be placed upon a table top in the middle of game play, without having to remove props and figurines encompassed by the effect.
As usual, all pieces are made from machine-cut laminated card stock, and printed with full-color graphics. They're wet and dry erasable, and come pre-assembled and ready to use. They can be easily switched to a flattened configuration for travel and storage, and come in a light and sturdy transparent, hard plastic case.
All pieces are sized in 1" increments, and are intended for use in table top RPG and strategy games that use 1/60 scale (1" = 5').
Hemisphere pieces will come in 2", 3", 4", 5", and 6" displays. Each set will contain one hemisphere of each size.
Cones will come in 3", 4", 5", and 6" lengths. Each cone displays a 90 degree angle, both vertically and horizontally. Each set will contain two copies of the 3", 4", and 5" cone, and three copies of the 6" cone. Multiple cones can be used in conjunction with each other to depict even larger cone effects.
The fire markers are 1.5" wide and approximately 1.5" tall. Each set contains 5 copies of this piece. In addition to showing an isolated blaze, they can be used to prop up the 12" measuring lines to show wall effects.
The linear measuring tool is approximately 12.5" long and 1.5" wide. Each set contains three copies of this piece. It has slots cut into it at 1" increments, and it can be used in the same manner as a ruler, to measure ranges on the table top; or up to three of them can be assembled to show a linear or angled wall of fire up to 36" long, or a circular wall of fire with a diameter of up to 12".
The spin-counter is approximately 7" wide, and its innovative design allows it to display numbers ranging from 1-100. Each set contains three copies of this piece.
If this set is well received, it will be the first in a series of area of effect sets. Future sets will each have a different theme, and will depict lightning and electrical effects, ice, acid/poison gas, fog, and a wide variety of miscellaneous spell and area effects that appear in popular table top RPG's (spider webs, chaotic sprays of color, disembodied tentacles, interdimensional portals, etc.)
Risks and challenges
Depending on the volume of orders I receive, I may not be able to complete order fulfillment within the projected time frame of July 2016. However, I will do my best to produce and deliver all of these sets as quickly as possible. Orders will be handled in the order in which they were placed during the campaign. Once the campaign ends and I begin production of these sets, I will have a better idea of the time frame that this will require, and I will keep all of my backers up to date on my progress.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
