About this project
About the Project
The Works, Ltd. Gameboy Analog Filter is a project to incorporate a resonant low pass analog filter into the classic Nintendo DMG-01 Gameboy.
The filter is nested inside the battery compartment and is powered from the same 6v adapter as the Gameboy.
External controls are provided for Cutoff, Resonance, Bypass, Envelope Follower and an internal Mode selector switch. Please see the demonstration video for a brief introduction to these controls.
The filter can operate in mono mode, effecting the entire signal from the Gameboy. In stereo mode, the clean signal from the Gameboy is panned hard left, while the filtered signal is panned hard right. This allows the performer to selectively program what elements of their audio will pass through the filter.
The Envelope Follower allows the filter to be automatically animated by the dynamics of the signal. This is particularly useful for imparting filter characteristics to resonant basslines.
About this Kickstarter
The circuit board layout and prototype for this project are completed. Please see the demonstration video to listen to the sound quality of the filter. The purpose of this Kickstarter is to fund full scale production.
Completed units from stock include a 6v adapter and shipping. These will be available a few weeks after the funding is dispensed.
There is also an option to supply us with your own DMG-01 Gameboy to be modified with the analog filter. This is not a repair service, the unit you supply to us must be in good working condition and an original DMG-01. The completed unit includes a 6v adapter and return shipping.
