It’s D-Day. June 6th, 1944. At dawn, the Allies send the greatest armada the world has ever known against German-occupied France. As the first wave of Allied soldiers step out of their landing craft, they are mowed down by machine-gun fire. You are one of these soldiers. And you’re not going to lay there, waiting to be killed. It’s do or die! You start moving, and shout to your comrades… “Follow me!”
D-Day Dice Overview
In D-Day Dice, players are Allied soldiers trying to organise improvised units for an attack against a machine-gun nest. Each player starts the game with a unit of a few soldiers and nothing else. As the game progresses, players roll dice to collect resources and advance on the beach, sector by sector, as the unit grows stronger and deadlier.
D-Day Dice will get you right there on the beach. You will experience the fear of getting killed by enemy fire, the anguish of losing your men, and the thrill of surmounting seemingly impossible odds to accomplish your mission. And since this is a cooperative game, all players are on the same side, fighting like brothers (and sisters) in arms! This game can be played by anyone (you don't have to be familiar with World War II) and has been enjoyed by families and wargamers alike.
We have set a very low target for this campaign, but to do so have stripped out 4 planned Battle Maps from the main game and 2 from War Stories, as well as some of the Legendary Unit sets we want to include. As a result, these Maps and Units will be added to the early Stretch Goals, as we can afford them. Doing this will ensure the Kickstarter is more likely to fund quickly, meaning we can focus on getting more stretch rewards and free gifts to you, our supporters.
The sweet-spot pledge level is the Sergeant level pledge; with it, you will get the D-Day Dice base game as well as the all new War Stories Expansion (about which you can read more here). Both are offered here at £5 less each than RRP/MSRP, a saving of 15%.
The Sergeant Pledge will give you access to the vast-majority of the stretch rewards unlocked during the campaign. If the Kickstarter goes well you will see a total of approximately £110 of value for your £60 (a saving of over 45%).
If you want any of the optional add-ons shown below, just add the price shown to your pledge amount. We will go over the details of your order with the Pledge Manager, early next year.
The History of D-Day Dice
The first edition of D-Day Dice was one of the most successful Kickstarter events of its day (back in 2011). It has been nominated for many awards, including Board Game Geek’s (BGG) Golden Geek for Best Wargame, and won the BGG Golden Geek for Best Print & Play. It sold 11,000 copies around the world (a huge number for a war-themed boardgame) but has been out of print for many years, with copies selling for hundreds of dollars on eBay. Time to bring it back!
D-Day Dice: 2nd Edition will be available in 4 different languages: English, French, Spanish and German. We have partnered up with 3 of the most dynamic and exciting local language companies to ensure this: Nuts! Publishing, Maldito Games and Spieleschmiede from Happy Shops.

2nd Edition vs. 1st Edition
While very similar in spirit to the original version of the game, the 2nd Edition pushes the game further, based on 5 years’ worth of feedback and reviews. The setup is more streamlined, the rules are clearer and the game will offer a better experience, with its upgraded graphics and new content. We also hope to unlock a Campaign mode during this KS campaign, which will allow up to 12 players to storm a multiple beaches at once in a cooperative yet competitve race to the bunkers!

Word Forge Games is a small-medium company that has grown from absolutely nothing in the last 3 years, thanks to some very hard work from the owners, our friends and family, and support from Kickstarter Backers. We are debt-free and want to keep it that way. Kickstarter is a great way to ensure that. It'll also help us market the game and let you know about it.
Simply put, Kickstarter allows us to share our plans and get your feedback! If you pledge your support, you can be assured we will listen to you. We want to offer the absolute best game experience to those, like us, who want D-Day Dice back in their lives.
Once the D-Day Dice Kickstarter has finished we will work our socks off to complete all material so you can see what you are getting (or could get) on the Pledge Manager. We plan to open the Pledge Manager within 6 weeks of completion of this campaign, so we can confirm your language choice and any Add-ons you want. We also promise to update you on our progress frequently, generally on a weekly basis.
Based on past experience (of us and others), we will be charging shipping after the Kickstarter concludes based on the actual costs incurred to ship. We will collect this via our pledge manager after the campaign ends. This is so we can be fair to all our backers (shipping is rarely "one size fits all"). We will ship your rewards at our cost to our international hubs. Depending on where you are, we will either ship to you from our hub in the USA (NA and some ROW backers), or the UK, Spain or France (EU & ROW backers). As a rough estimate, the game will cost about £5-10 to ship within Europe and $10-15 to NA and approx £20 elsewhere (for a 1.5kg parcel), but this may increase or decrease depending on the quantity of stretch goals we unlock and your choices. Please note that while we do our best to get you your rewards in a timely manner and at the best delivery cost we can, you may not necessarily receive your rewards before the product makes it into distribution in your own country or before it's made available in conventions and special promotion opportunities. We hope that the special price and free add-ons and exclusive items you will get during the Kickstarter will make up for any such possible lag. However, if this is something that is not acceptable to you, please do not back this project, and instead wait for the retail release. Thank you for your understanding.
Risks and challenges
Word Forge Games has now run 4 successful Kickstarters, ranging from very small to medium sized. We have always fulfilled. Our largest one, Devil's Run, has involved a lot of components and dealing with a number of different suppliers, as well as designing all from scratch after the completion of the Kickstarter. D-Day Dice and its expansions are completely planned and well over 60% is fully designed and print ready.
We will be working with new partners for the manufacture, but they are industry stalwarts. We have a clear plan how to complete this project and all aspects in our control, we are fully confident we can ensure these occur in a time-appropriate manner and we will do our upmost to drive the other parts and partners on a daily basis.
