PHASE 2 BEGINS 2/27/2019
We made it to our initial goal in just over two weeks and are truly humbled by the amount of support we've received so far. THANK YOU!!! We now have the funds needed to cover the base costs of our album and pay our amazing team.
With 10 days to go, we are now launching phase 2 of our fundraising campaign and are attempting to raise an additional $10,000. Phase 2 will focus on getting our music to the world. Funds raised during this phase will go towards additional promotion, music videos, wider distribution, and helping us purchase a reliable touring vehicle. We want to be able to travel around the country to support this album and come play for you all. A safe and dependable band vehicle will make this possible.
The same reward tiers will still be available, so if you are interested in pre-purchasing the album, attending the VIP Party, hosting a concert, or any of the other rewards, you still have a chance! We will also be adding new reward tiers in the coming days so stay tuned.
In the summer of 2015, Craig and Chris (Weist) met in the Rockygrass campground and the musical chemistry was clear from the start. They started jamming regularly and by the fall of 2016 they had been joined by Chris (Zink), Aaron and Taylor. Everyone's dedication to the band was obvious and the music immediately started falling into place.
2018 saw a number of amazing things happen for us. We released our debut album in May, won the Telluride Bluegrass Festival band competition in June, and were nominated as IBMA Momentum Band of the Year. The recognition and praise from both the Colorado and national bluegrass communities have only strengthened our determination to create the best music we possibly can. With your help we'll be able to record our second full length album and get it out to the world.
Much like our first album, the sophomore release will feature 100% original material. We've been working tirelessly to write, arrange, rearrange, and record 13 new songs. The content is reflective of the band's growth and, with the help of producer extraordinaire Sally Van Meter, we feel like this is a big step forward from our debut album.
We'll be recording at Swingfingers Studio in Fort Collins, CO with Aaron Youngberg at the helm. Aaron has an incredible collection of vintage gear and all the know-how to get the top notch tones we're looking for.
We're very lucky to have Jeremy Garrett of the Infamous Stringdusters joining us on fiddle for a few songs. His style fits our songs wonderfully and is a more than welcome addition to our sound.
The final touches will be put on by the best in the biz, David Glasser of Airshow mastering.
The Nitty Gritty
This album will be expensive, and although we've been diligently saving, we need help to make it happen. $20,000 is a lot of money to ask for, but it will still not cover all of our expenses. Our estimated cost for the entire project is well above that and we cannot complete the album without you.
Here's where your money will be going:
What's in it For You
In addition to our eternal gratitude, we have a number of different rewards for our backers. You can get an advanced digital download, various Wood Belly merchandise packages, a custom build tube amplifier, or your own private Wood Belly concert. Your support at any level means the world to us and will help this project come to life!
Risks and challenges
There many risks and challenges associated with making a quality album. Luckily we have assembled a team of top-notch industry professionals to get the job done right.
We have been anticipating this album since the release of our debut, Solid Ground, and couldn't be more prepared. Sally Van Meter has been a huge help in keeping things focused and streamlined throughout the entire process.
13 songs is ambitious for a studio project, however we remain confident in our abilities to keep everything on track. Time can always be a complication, but after recording a 12 song album at Swingfingers last fall, we are more in tune with our time constraints and have slotted extra time to ensure we capture the best music possible.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
