Wicked Wednesday Update: Production Mini samples

Hi Heroes!

I have something super cool to share with all of you.  Panda sent over photos of minis produced from the molds including ink wash. This is the first time we are seeing the crystals in the final state and I think they look amazing! We also get a first peek at what the ink wash will look like. In the photo the ink wash is definitely too heavy for my taste and they are aware of this. It will be redone in a lighter shade and sent along soon. Anyway here it is:

I hope you like how everything looks (minus the wash being too dark). At this point all of the files are in Panda's hands so I should have a pretty solid timeline from them very soon.

Essen ReCap:

Essen was amazing once again this year. We had so many people play stop by to say hi and check out the PPC! We also had almost 100 people stop by and play the game during the course of the convention and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. So many backers stopped by with kind words and encouragement and its always gratifying to hear that people are excited about the game and like what they see. I didn't really get to see very much of the show itself as I was fully engaged with demo sessions but once again it was a packed venue with so much excitement around board games. It really is an experience every board game enthusiast should experience at least once.

I also have to give a HUGE shout-out to the amazing volunteers who helped out at Spiel:

Jan, Kerstin, Marco, Nadine, Daniel and Ben were a huge and indispensable help! I cannot possibly thank you guys enough for all that you have done for me! I love you guys and I'm proud to call you all my friends! Some day I hope to be able to repay you as you deserve!

Translation into other languages: (other than English, German and French)

During the campaign and after I have talked about translating the rules into other languages besides those officially produced as part of the Kickstarter campaign. I have not moved on this to this point because I severely underestimated the complexity and time involved with this task. I am still very much open to having backer translation into other languages but this has to be handled in a way the the translators are also handling the files (InDesign) as I just don't have time to move translated text into its final form. If you have skills in this regard and are still interested in helping to produce rules for languages other than English, French or German, please get in touch with me, otherwise we will have to wait for official language partners at some point in the future to handle this cost and effort.

I should have more information on the timeline for delivery VERY soon. Stay tuned!

Thanks again!

+1 a bit of lighter wash

    2. Andy Bradford on

Looks amazing but agree that a lighter wash will look better and more in keeping with the style of the rest of the art.

I think a lighter wash will be the right call.

Even the dark ink wash looks amazingly great.

I like the detail the dark wash brings. Also, as the majority, I will leave the game as is. I worry less wash would mean less of the amazing detail. I suppose once we see some lightened down versions it would put peoples mind at rest or reaffirm there worries

A lighter wash will keep the details distinguishable without the smudges as seen now. The crystals look great.

@Steven usually with washes like this you don't have to remove them before painting, but Panda will have to confirm just to be sure.

I also agree with you all, that the minis get more depth and more details are shown with it. But for me, and there I agree with Carolyn and Ryan, the inkwash is to heavy and don’t need to be so much of paint on it. Even with less paint the details will come out perfectely, but it will not look as « dirty » and daubed as it is right now.

I love the crystals, even that at the beginning I prefered the one where there were more crystals on it, but now in his actylic form, it looks better with a single crystal.

Clearly I'm in the minority (so far), but I agree with Ryan. I think the wash is too dark. The crystals are amazing! I am SO looking forward to this game.

I was coming here to plead with the creator to not lighten up the wash as I think it looks amazing, but looks like everyone beat me to it!

With the wash on it, does that allow to paint without priming? Or will I need to strip and prime?

      paint... not print :)

I agree, the dark wash looks perfect! Not so many of us are able to print minis like in previous updates. So the minis will stay like delivered, and those in the pictures with the dark wash look deep and distinguishable!

Yeah I honestly love the ink wash as is. It's all looks awesome, can't wait to get my hands on it

The minis looks really good. The crystal still not so much in my taste. Looks like a deformed ****plug if you ask me. But I am glad I backed this and for the wash.

Those mini's look fantastic! I think the dark wash gives them a lot of character. I had totally forgotten about that stretch goal. Can't wait to get this to the table!

I like the wash too. It really brings out the detail and is perfect for us folks who likely won't paint these minis.

I like the wash on the miniatures because it shows the details perfectly. I don't even find it too dark.
Good to know that you were busy because there were people interested on trying the game.
Those dishes seem very big! 8-)

i personally like the dark wash, really wish all companies would use a wash. i'd say about 95% of folks never paint their minis
