Wolf and Tiger Games is a company founded by two friends to create fun games using our experience from our years playing tabletop games of all kinds. We as a company are dedicated to creating new and exciting journeys for players to enjoy again and again. After significant playtesting, we created Worlds Unknown and have brought it to a point where it is now playable.
Worlds Unknown is a tabletop role-playing game that lets you play as a lineage of heroes rather than playing as a single character for the entirety of your campaign. You start by creating a character and taking them on adventures letting them grow in power. When characters grow old or finish their adventuring, they pass on their powers to a successor through a power called the mark. The mark is a power that was granted to them by the gods of the world, known as Dolevs.
Your character will have dreams and aspirations that they will not be able to finish within their lifespans and so it is up to the next generation to carry on their quest and carve out a path towards their ultimate goal. Each new character you create will have their own personality and may even decide that they want to complete their own goals instead of adhering to the traditions of past generations. Each generation harnesses a power that only grows stronger through the years.
The powers you attain are tied to the mark and can be bequethed to anyone you deem worthy. The mark passes on when your character dies or retires and will find someone who most embodies your aspirations in life and the will of your Dolev. During this process you may switch races, but you will still be able to retain a few of your former racial traits, creating a new hybrid race if you wish.
The game comes with a large world filled with numerous different races, cultures, factions and Dolevs. The world has a vast history and the factions have a deep interplay that a campaign can build off of or you can feel free to mold the environment to your liking as a dungeon master. The game has 37 different races to choose from and each race comes with a tree of abilities that you can unlock as your power grows, unleashing the potential of your bloodline.
Of these races we have the classic races within most role playing games; elves, dwarves, and humans, alongside newer entries such as winged Valkyries, illusion wielding Kitsune, and bug-like Coleopt. There are also Slimes, Ents, Golems, Rakshasa, and many more to choose from. See full list of races at bottom of page.
From the Floating Isles of the yokai, to the grand channel of The Split that divides the two continents, the world of Dolvwenned has locations both new and ancient to explore and conquer. As your characters grow, so must the world around them. Adventure through dangerous and mysterious forests one day, only to find that your gradual influence has shaped the land into a sprawling magitech dystopia of high spires and hidden danger. The course of the world is in your hands.
Dolvwenned’s story often begins with a traditional fantasy realm of mystical landmarks to be explored. It is the actions of your characters that can shape how those areas progress as generations of your decisions stack up to change the world. In one game the magically induced desert known as the Endless could become a pirate empire ruled by your characters. In another campaign, the same desert could become an adventurers mecca where people from all around come to explore entrances to a labyrinth that spans the whole world, perhaps drawn by tales of your exploits.
Magic in the World
The game also comes with 3 different systems of magic that your characters can learn. You can become a Mifune and channel poweful ki out of your own enhanced health pools to create powerful physical phenomenon. Mifune practitioners focus on enhancing their bodies with powerful energies and unleashing that stored power to devastate foes.
Characters can harness the power of ancient words as Casters. altering the fabric of reality around them and summon powerful forces. Using the language known as Jesen'Ga, bestowed upon followers of the Dolev, Jesen, you gain the power to manipulate the chaotic laws of the world. The possibilities of the language are only limited by your imagination.
Finally, characters can attune themselves to the power of nature and become Druids. These druids spend time in the forests and other natural environments, gathering their power to create incredible effects. They channel the existing forces around them and borrow the powers of the land itself for a varied array of abilities both wild and formidable.
Any of these systems of power will enable your character to ascend to new heights of power.
Gods of the World
Parties are also servants of one of the Dolevs who granted them power and, as such, are often sent on quests by them to prove their worth in exchange for greater favor and strength. To help the adventurers on their journeys the Dolevs grant a piece of their immense power to a personal object of the adventurer. This object becomes a powerful heirloom that is passed to future generations of mark holders as they weave the power of the gods into it with each successive life. Dying is not the end, as the mark and the heirloom will always find a successor.
The Dolevs were birthed from the mouths of the three-headed elemental Elnsoloth that lives in the core of the world. They cemented alliances with each other based on the mouth they were born from and soon their conflicting ideologies lead to widespread destruction. These wars tore the world asunder creating dangerous zones that persist to the present like the desert of the endless, the decrepit swamp of the deadlands, and the very split of the continent. During these wars the Dolevs created the many races of the world to fight for them as tools.
When the fighting subsided the races created their own kingdoms and embraced a power structure all their own. The valkyries used their superior combat skills to create a dominant empire that rules over a vast swathe of land. The Dolev Mithrin who excels in the power of control, spread his disease of dominance creating the kingdom of Mithil. The Dolev of words, Jesen, started a school for the magic language she had created and, when she closed the doors to her tower, 5 factions formed to claim dominion over the language of power. In the Endless small communities started up taking advantage of the small spots of water that could be found and in the deadlands an overlord arrived to dominate the many species of monsters that learned to survive in the harsh conditions.
Upon completion of quests given by their Dolev, players receive points they can invest into skills, stats, and upgrades for their Heirlooms.
Come explore the mysteries of the split continent of Dolvwenned and unlock the potential of your character as they draw on ancient powers to overcome their adversities and become true legends.
The game is a Three-Stat system. During character creation, you will allocate your attribute points into Body, Mind and Spirit. The Body stat is related to physical actions in the world. The Mind stat is related to social and knowledge based actions. The Spirit stat is related to one’s connection to the world and its vast powers.
Beyond that, you put the points in those stats into a separate action or reaction stat. Taking action in a stat relates to when you are taking the initiative in an encounter through your prefered method of interaction and reaction relates to when you are responding to the actions of others. Each stat has skills related to it that you can boost with the power of the Dolevs. Points in those skills represent your experience with that type of action and will help with relevant roles whether the role is action or reaction.
Players start by selecting a race and a profession from the wide array of possibilities we’ve created and their starting stats will be based off of these choices; players will also be able to distribute free points to define and customize their character as they please. Races start with a single ability and more can be bought as players gain power. Beyond these choices how you define who your character is and what your they can do becomes up to you.
Unlike many other systems, Heirs of Dolvwenned has no classes, meaning the skills you take and how you play the characters determines their role in the world. You can be anything you want; a sneaky mage, a brutish bard, or something entirely different. The choice is entirely yours.
Combat in the system uses attack rolls with the relevant stat modifier to hit against an opponent's Vitality, which is measured by their Dexterity (aka Body Reaction) and a percentage of their health pool. This means that the more wounded an enemy becomes, the easier they are to hit. This, of course, is a double edged sword, because the same applies to Player Characters.
As time passes in-game, your characters' influence on the world shifts it into new eras that may take on other Genres, such as Sci-fi, Western, Gothic Horror, or Modern Fantasy. These genre shifts can be done manually by the Storyteller, or through use of our later expansions.
With a system where players create whole lines of characters we knew it would be important to make sure that players had as many optionals available to them as possible to make each character uniquely theirs. Part of this was to give as wide a range of diverse races as possible. We also created the heirloom system to give your character something that only they have to make them different from any other character in any campaign.
With all this customization available we wanted to make the actual process as simple as possible to keep the rules out of the way of creativity. We broke the process of creating your first character down into these 6 step:
- Select a Race (this provides some base stats and abilities).
- Select a Profession (this is what your character did prior to the game, and provides additional stat points and equipment).
- Invest the remaining stat points, and determine Health and Mana pools (based on stats).
- Invest a number of skill points (determined by your stats) into a variety of options from Stealth to Magic.
- Create your Heirloom. It should have an ability specific to you, and can be anything from a item to a pet.
- Write your character's bio. What did they do before? How did they become an adventurer? This should also include things like physical description, personality, and goals.
Creating characters for new generations becomes even easier as these first steps establish a path that you can have your future characters follow along.
$10,000 - Community Profession
We will add a profession to the book based off of a community poll. We will release a list of our current professions. disclaimer: anything that isn't a fantasy age job won't be accepted.
$12,500 - Community Playtesting
We will email a pdf containing a beta version of the game to all backers at the Adventurer backer level and higher, and we will listen to feedback from our backers to improve the experience. This pdf will come with everything needed to create characters and run a sample campaign that we will include monsters and encounters for.
$15,000 - Starter Adventure
Each backer at the Adventurer (pdf) tier and higher will be sent a custom campaign made by the devs with multiple encounters that lay the roots for a grander adventure. This campaign can be used as a one-off adventure or as a jumping off point for a group.
$17,500 - Public Distribution
We will send 50 softcover copies to community centers and libraries for use by the public. We will choose the centers based off of a list compiled from the community.
$20,000 - Adventure Video Series
We will create a 6 video adventure series using our system and we will present three possible adventures to the community that we will open to backers to vote on. This series will encompass two generations to show off the generation mechanics. The series will be put on a company youtube channel and made private for the first month and be available to backers at all levels prior to being publicly released.
As you proceed through the world of Dolvwenned, so do we. We will be creating expansions that add to both the world and the system. Expansions will be small books that build off the core system to allow for new eras to explore, from the old west to the distant cyberpunk future, and many expansions will either add alternative race options, or entirely new races to play as well as new items, monsters, lore and possible adventures.
This section is to let you know that the world will be expanded in the future and this core rulebook will become the basis for an expansive world. The core itself comes with a full and detailed world and we will be building on it in the future.

However, her current focus is character design and concept art. Her ultimate goal is to publish her own indie comics and video games. Sarah is excited and honored to contribute to Worlds Unknown.
Risks and challenges
In terms of risks and challenges, we have already completed the base version of the game and our main priority now is writing peripheral details like stats for pre-made monsters as well as fine tune some of the rules to make them as balanced as possible. Your generous support will largely be going towards improving the experience and art. According to our estimates, with a budget from a successful kickstarter after costs are subtracted, we will be able to pay our two artists to produce all the pieces that we need for the book.
We foresee no problems in releasing this game November of next year and plan to work directly with Lightning Press, the company that Drive-Thru RPG uses to print on demand, to print high quality editions of the books you helped fund at the most efficient price. We thank you for your interest and we can't wait to show you our game.
